3 - 070: The Third Piece

Krysta, Girud and Mordrock - Brushing yourself off from the wild ride, you make your way to the dry area just a few feet away. You sigh as you collapse on the solid ground, thankful that the watery pit did not take your life - just spit it out through a waterfall elsewhere in the ship.

Then you spot them and become even more thankful.

Earlier, in the rooms with the pyramids of skeletons, there were four boats. All four were brought down from the skeletal stands but only two were used. The other two pay close by, right where you left them.

Perhaps you could use them to reach your companions and tell them of the gate at the bottom of the pit....

But how would you prevent the boat from slipping into the pit again? You need two in order to head down a different passage in this damned vessel.

Galdren, Hero, Caelith, Callian and Garor - [I should have been more clear. Krysta, Girud and Mordrock are gone, having slipped beneath the waves. The remainder of you have either floated onto or climbed back into the boats. You now lie, at the bottom of an eighty foot shaft with water pouring over you, falling from above. I.E. -

The boats dramatically knock against each other in the tight quarters, pushed around by the water raining from above and the swirling vortex beneath you.

Though they do not sink...only swirl about at the base of the tube like buckets in a well.

You search the water beneath you for signs of your companions, but see none. The murky water seems to have swallowed them. Perhaps they are lost...

You hope otherwise...

Yuri and Romar - Tthe vampire screams and moves to the weapons, a striking example of insanity in this bizarre chasm.

As soon as he lifts the weapons from the rack however, the wicked statue hulking over the man comes to life and raises it's sword higher, as though to strike the child...

[Fangor the Fierce]

Krysta stares at the boats, and then back at the left corridor. "Come, let us go save them!" She then begins helping Girud bring one boat to the waters, and begins securing her grappling hook and silk rope together. She asks Mordrock and Girud to aid her, to make sure it is secured as tightly as possible. Once done, she turns to Girud.

"I am counting on your strength, my friend. We will head down the left corridor again, but when we turn to the right, where the long tunnel is, I will secure this grappling hook onto the corner wall. It should be enough so that we can travel down the corridor a little ways, without being swept away again. Then we can shout to the others, and tell them to go down the drain, which will spit them out at the entry way where the water begins. Once done, we can pull ourselves back with the rope, and back to where they should be waiting."

Once agreed, she begins paddling down the corridor, and once the corner is spotted, she halts. She drops the grappling hook into the water, to see its depth. (50' rope, so she would be able to tell how deep the water is) Once done, she will then near the corner of the turn, and have everyone search for the best spot to secure the grappling hook. Mordrock woul dbe the best to search for such a spot, with his better modifier, and she will aid. +6 for Mordrock.

The end of the rope will then be tied to Girud, around the waist. He should be able to pull himself out of harms way easily, and should she help, it won't be a problem. As for her and Mordrock, they will have their bows ready, aimed at the corner, in case anything attempts to release the grappling hook.

As they enter the corridor, she will shout towards the well. "There is a drain at the bottom! Trust us! Enter it and you will be spit out at the waterfall where we entered the water!"

If they don't trust her, she sighs, knowing full well that this whole trust issue is getting on her nerves. "How can I gain your trust if you won't even allow me to try?" Then she turns to Mordrock and Girud, and says, "Better me than you!" She will then remove her armour, and jump into the water, swimming towards that well. Once there, she will easily allow herself to fall down the shaft, saying, "Ready or not, Here I come!" Falling.... a familiar feeling...

Once at the bottom with the others, (Tumble check at +7. for every 15 points, I can reduce the fall damage by ten feet. I would need an 8 to reduce it to a 70 foot fall), she will say, "Come on, let's get out of here. Girud is waiting for us as well as Mordrock!" She then submerges into the drain, hopefully with the others following.... Swim +3 without her armour...

Romar doesn't waste a second moment, and immediately steps in between the child statue and the now alive construct. He had his blades drawn already, so he can immediately follow through with multiple attacks. He just hopes that this fight won't be as unfortunate as the battle with the giant, knowing that he wouldn't be in the condition to sustain any more such damage.

Yuri has finally pieced together the puzzle....

That's it...

Having no time to explain the situation to Romar, he executes his plan. With blinding speed, Yuri rushes to the aid of the child with sword and shield drawn from the weapon rack. He steps between the golem and the child, striking the hulk with the sword and using the shield to defend the blow to the child, even going so far as to take the blow for the child if possible. Realizing his relexes are too slow, Yuri shouts:

Out of the way Romar! You are too weak to face the creature! Let me handle him!

He shoves Romar out of the way if possible to protect him from the golem's blow, knowing that he has taken too much punishment from the Giant encountered the day before.

{FYI: Girud has a Ring of Feather Fall and is wearing Boots of Levitation. For sake of ease though we'll say that Girud wasn't wearing the ring.}

He will offer it to Krysta to take so that she may avoid falling all the way down. He also has another thought about the boats. Assuming that the other two boats are still floating in the bottom of the pit, Girud wonders whether or not his levitation would be able to bring the boats back. For now they can go with Krysta's plan (assuming that she uses the ring) and he'll offer to get the boats out after the others have gone down the drain.

Hero is at loss, being uncomfortable in a boat. She waits for one of her companions to offer advice.
