Kysta, Girud, Mordrock, Galdren, Caelith, Callian and Garor - Gathering yourselves and your courage, you pile back into the boats and push forward, wondering just what this behemoth of a demon was guarding.
Something had to be worth her life...
The tunnel gives way to massive room beyond, the ceiling shooting well over a hundred feet into the air. Dominating the center of this huge chamber is a statue of a two-headed hydra with forked tail that curves about its torso. The entire statue is covered, from head to toe, in silvery scales - much like a fish. The statue stands, about thigh deep in the water, leading you to believe that the water here is much deeper than you hoped.
Behind the strange, tentacle-armed statue, raises a dias that levels out to provide a broad platform. Atop this platform is something you lack the words to describe.
There are two...gateways, shimmering barriers well over twenty feet in height and half as wide that are framed in solid black iron. From the frames of these portals extend translucent veins filled with a black tarry substance. Centered between these portals is a heart, roughly five feet across and black as the night. It pumps visciously, sending the tar through the veins with each thrust.
Next to this larger, central heart, are two more nearly as large and equally grotesque. Together, the macabre trio beats, supplying ichorous blood to the portals with devilish effeciency.
Sprawled out on silk pillows before this set of strange devices is demon. From where she lays, you are able to tell that if standing, her full height would be nearly ten feet. She possesses six arms, all within a second's reach of the countless weapons hanging from her body. She is nude, taking no opportunity to present decency. Her skin is a brilliant crimson and her eyes glow with an unholy yellow.
She rests them on you uncomfortably.
"So...you've killed the pet and now you want blood from the master?"
She stands from the bed of pillows, confirming your fear that she is over ten feet tall...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yuri and Romar - Moving closer to the ziggurat, you begin to look for any signs of where the ...thing that did this might have gone. As you approach, it is as though the world around you freezes.
You are no longer able to move, you are no longer able to speak. You are cognisant of time passing, but that is about it.
Is this what the clerics are feeling? I didn't feel anything...
Your mind races with the thoughts. You didn't step on any plate. You didn't hear anything. You didn't see anything.
Then you hear...the sound of claws ticking on stone, the sound of padded footprints pressing down without care of ambush or surprise. Your mind, unable to do anything else, screams with rage.
I can't be denied revenge! I have come this far...not now!
Unable to move, you must wait until the sounds move into your vision. Your eyes barely catch the full sight of the creature before you.
It stands at least fifteen feet tall and appears to be much like a centaur - half human, but this is half leopard. Unlike a centaur, this creature shimmers incorporeally, like a shadow that has gathered itself into substantial form. It stalks about you much as a panther would, its form cold and cruel - toying with a meal.
Only two eyes of glowing emerald denote intelligence - a most wicked intelligence.
It snorts, seemingly inhaling your very soul...
[glow=green,2,300]You do not have the stench of holy about you...indeed, the dead one has quite the opposite.
Well this presents a very unique opportunity for me...[/glow]
In this instant, you feel your bodies move, as though suddenly freed and loosed upon the world again. The...demon, for lack of a better word, takes a step back and watches you unerringly. You imagine that if evil, the act, had a face - this was it.
[glow=green,2,300]I want you to do something for me...[/glow]
Its eyes fall solely on Romar.
