Krysta, Girud, Mordrock, Galdren, and Garor - {Excellent role-playing you two (with cohorts) very well introduced. However, not much discussion on plan of action. The paladins will lead you...straight to Karn's Spirit? Is that OK with everyone?} Brother Hingar waits patiently while the newcomers get aquainted with everyone. Once settled down, he simply nods and takes the first steps further down the tunnel - towards the temple that has been pulled into hell. The first thing you note is the heat. Unlike the frozen, tundra-like walls of Coldsteel, this place is becoming unbearably hot. Sweat pours from your skin, your grip feels like it will slip your blade any moment...all very unsettling. The second thing you notice is the sound. Wails, screams and cackles of menacial evil fill the air. It's very hard to concentrate the further you go down this tunnel. It's as though every hellish nightmare you've heard, had or dreamt about a place like this has come to life in vivid sounds and smells. You notice Brother Hingar has stopped and crouches near a spot where the wall comes closer together, allowing only one person through. The paladin spins and whispers, obviously fearing his words will be heard. "This is the tunnel we left from earlier, but it's different. The walls have shifted in and made for cramped fighting quarters."
"Also, the room ahead is not how we left it."
"It is now filled with devils that buzz about and torture helpless souls held fast to the stone walls. There is an obelisk in the center of the room. We have seen these before, but are unsure of what they do. They emit a constant wailing scream that seems to unnerve many, so stay close."
"Of course, being guardians of this temple, we volunteer to enter first if you will guard our flanks..."
"Just beyond this room, through a door, is another room...that will lead us to Karn's Spirit."{You guys are in Room 9, right where is says 'To Coldsteel'. The 'X's on the walls are torture victims. The square is the screaming obelisk.} {The Screaming Obelisks serve to unnerve mortals with their wailing and more. Normally they impose an attack roll penalty, but thanks to the paladins, you're immune to fear effects for the moment.} COUNTDOWN - 01:22 Hours to Apocalypse Clock Chime... 0 out of 200 Restoration points earned. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yuri and Romar - [Yuri, Aid Roll, Fail. Romar Heal Check - 7] Daniel continues to ooze blood onto the walls of the tunnel, his lifeforce seeping away... Daniel is dying. (-2) [Listen Check, Phane Demon] From outside of the tunnel, through the main doors of the temple, you hear the voice of that haunting creature calling to you. [glow=green,2,300]Mortals?...[/glow] __________________________________________________________________________________________

As the two walked along the hot tunnel Girud couldn't help but feel a bit protective of the little fellow nearby. Girud had failed to protect some in his care in the past, and this frail little guy was sure to be smashed if they came up across any more huge devils or demons. They seemed to have the worst luck lately with the enemies they encountered. On a side note Girud reaffirms his vows to always do good deeds, so as to never be sent to this foul plane upon his demise.
When the Paladins mention the scene that lies before them Girud flexes his grip on his greatsword. They came a long way to find this Karn, no demons would stop him from his goal now.
"Lets do this."
================
The tunnel was getting hotter and hotter, and Alton was no big fan of it. Since their exchange of words in the hallway back there the big fellow seemed to have taken a liking to him. Silently he told himself that he'd have to show the big guy what he was made of during the next encounter they should find.
As the screams and wails increase the giant's brow was creasing ever more as he flexed his massive hands on the handle of his huge sword. Not knowing what was ahead Alton had drawn his bow and held an arrow ready, trying to see what was ahead through the gaps in the big people's legs.
When the paladin told them what was happening in the room ahead Alton nodded grimly to the giants's words.
"Yah, let's show these guys who's boss around here."

Adelia hears the screams, and the wailing overwhelms her. She closes her eyes briefly, calling forth for aid from Pelor. She then releases that aid into her mace, as it pulses with the power, waiting to be released.
Spends one turn attempt to use Divine Spell Power, Roll is 10+9=19, +5 Caster Level to Deific Vengeance, which she now stores in her Mace... +5d6 damage when released...
"I will do what I can to aid you all..." Adelia mutters, ready to deal with whatever comes their way.

Mordrock seems to be enthralled with the newcomers. The woman was just his type, a woman. As for the halfling, mordrock is a bit relieved that he isn't the only other little guy on this mission. When the Paladin speaks of the scene ahead, Mordrock feels a little boasting is needed, as he flexes his muscles, displaying his intent on dealing with the scene easily.
Underneath it all, he is too naive to know any better....
Grabbing his claok about him, he blends into the surroundings easily, and then whispers, "Sneaky time..." as he grabs his bow, readying an arrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Krysta agrees with the big guy, as she grabs her longbow, also readying an arrow. When the cleric speaks of being ready, Krysta turns to her, knowing she is not that good of a fighter, "Stay close... we should put your powers to good use..."
She then will ready her arrow for the first demon that she sees...
Romar curses himself for his recent clumsiness, but doesn't intend on giving up. However, when the Demon outside speaks up, a cold shiver goes through the length of his body and he finds himself in the same uncomfortable position as a while ago, while he stood upon the cell door deep inside the temple, unknowing that the demon inside was dead.
He looks to Yuri, and then to the door. First, there is from Romar only silence, afraid that the demon might get impatient. Then, he whispers to Yuri:
"What a fool I must've been not to think of this before. We can negotiate with the demon from inside the temple, where we are quite safe due to the holy wardings upon the door. That will at least give us the initiative, since it can't freeze us and threaten us with death... that is, directly; I do not think Daniel has left much of the provisions for us within the temple.
What shall we do?"
He tries again to stop the blooding, and will repeat doing this until the blooding is effectively stopped or Daniel is dead, or another course of action is decided upon.
Heal +4, repeat skill use until Daniel's stable or dead.
{OOC: Romar/Yuri. I'm sorry to butt in, I have a suggestion. Look at it this way; this demon can control time. If Daniel is close to dead, you could take him outside and tell the demon to freeze/heal (or both) him until you've made your point. I think the demon would be happier with him alive than dead. He'll be wanting his revenge methinks. Sorry if I'm stepping on any toes.. }
Yuri looks at Romar, listening to his idea intently. However, he is not ready to accept negotiating with the demon though a wall.
These wounds will not be able to heal by our skill. The demon can do nothing while we remain in here with Daniel dying in front of us. Let me speek with him. Remain here, and I will be back as soon as I can. I will take Daniel with me. What your moves are is up to you, but as for me, I will not let him die without justice being done to him by those he has wronged, the city and the demon included.
Unless Romar stops him, he picks Daniel up and walks though the doors to greet the demon outside. Yuri wispers a silent prayer upon leaving.
The diety that has guided me to this place, be with me now more than ever....
(OOC: No worries about the idea Japic, we don't have much of a choice right now. If Daniel dies in front of us, then the demon cannot get his proper vengence, thus giving an even fewer chance for him to consider unfreezing the town. Of course, this is a DEMON were dealing with here, so anything is possible. Also, I don't think we are allowed more than one heal check per hour. If that is true, then Daniel will die before we are allowed to make another one.)
OOC: Crap, sorry I didn't update, I also got too caught up in updating my character that I forgot all about actually posting.
Galdren draws his swords and nods. "Yes, we must help those poor souls inside that room."
Caelith remains relatively silent throughout the trip, not being exceedingly fond of warm weather in general, and less so when faced with the Inferno itself. But he is eager to reach Karn, eager to retrieve the crystal, eager to return the temple to the surface, and very eager to leave.
There is a war waging above, and Caelith's spirit chafes with each passing moment.
"Yes. It is high time we finished this, my comrades. To save a hero, for a Hero." He pulls out his bow, making it quickly at the ready for battle. In his mind he cycles through the rituals and incantations he must have at his mental fingertips for the ensuing struggles. He will need all his magic, but thankfully his mind is fresh and ready.
((Erm, still need to update spells, but I'm working on that with my limited time))
Romar is very hesitant upon hearing Yuri's plans, and reminds him of a lesson he should well regard before proceeding.
"Do not release the carrot to the mule before it has brought you to your destination, Yuri. Once Daniel is outside, he can kill us, take his revenge on Daniel and after that go without ever bothering again to release the City from this state. I would not allow you to go out of that door by my best judgement, I am sorry. The risk is to great and the trust for the demon misplaced.
If we have Daniel here, we can still negotiate; at the worst the Demon will refuse a trade between Daniel and the City's restoration, but it will not kill us in the process and it will not get its revenge, and we can still go from there. He knows this. The pressure that Daniel's wounds provide on the situation is to our advantage. We must speak our demands now so that he may react before Daniel passes away."
Romar indeed stops Yuri, and gives him a very deep look in his eyes, trying to determine if Yuri had concidered all the odds of both plans. He takes him by the shoulder and waits for Yuri to make his final call. However, he won't threaten Yuri with violence or anything like that if he continues. Instead, he will follow him and do whatever is necessary.
If Yuri agrees, Romar would speak up to the Demon outside, but remaining inside.
