Romar -
The voice coughs a bit more, a sort of mocking chuckle at best.
"Beyond his righteousness what else is needed to frustrate a man?"
"Do you know why no one opposes Sturmguard?"
The voice continues before you can even guess this was a rhetorical question.
"Because he removes all that do. Sure, we are small in number, but it defies all logic to think that all of a governed people will agree all of the time."
"We disagreed with his tactics, we think he was immoral in his dealings with other nations...and we made it public. An outcry for support, and you know what it got us?"
Again, you barely have time to think of a response before the sarcastic voice goes on, seemingly fueled by fire from within.
"Time in the dungeon, that's what. Sturmguard placed us here, saying it was this or exile...and that he didn't have the 'heart' to exile us into the outside world. He'd rather keep us locked up until the war was over than let us hurt ourselves."
"Bah!"
You hear the distinct splat of spit hitting the ground, probably the result of one of the coughing fits.
"Who is he to determine what we can and cannot do? A man can only take so much oppression..."
"Sturmguard eventually let us out, after a month of cold dank darkness, but warned us not to spread rumors and lies about the kingdom again. Lies!! He called the plain truth a lie!"
"So we went underground, trying to find a way to usurp this oppressive king and we found agents of the Elves of Astoril...they made us a deal. In exchange for our freedom in their kingdom, we would deliver them the stones that Sturmguard so preciously protects in the castle proper."
"Well...out of the twelve of us in the deal, one of us went to Sturmguard and warned him of everything. The theft, the defection to Astoril...everything. The King had us locked up again the very next day and we've been here ever since."
Another coughing fit, clearly this man is very sick - probably mentally as well as physically.
"What Sturmguard doesn't know though...that this was our plan! We needed to be within the castle for our machinations to work. We needed to be close to the shards...in fact, right beneath them!"
You hear some shuffling from behind the wall, the man leaning closer as though fear of his words being overheard.
"I probably should't tell you this, but as a man recently pushed down by Sturmguard himself, maybe you'll do what's right by yourself."
"Look above you..."
Your eyes turn to the ceiling above, now that your eyes have adjusted to the dank and the dark. There, in about a foot radius, the moss has been worked and scraped away carefully. The stone underneath is clean, free of mold and grime - very peculiar.
"See that spot on the ceiling? Phoebus, the man in the cell before you died as he succumbed to the lung sickness. However, not before he finished one of the twelve tunnels we've dug in the past year of being here. They lead right up to the chamber where the shard are...!"
"Tonight is our night Romar Belamor - tonight at midnight we are to exit our cells through these tunnels and make our way to the shard chamber. Once there, we will use a device given to us by the agents of Astoril. It will summon a creature to carry away the shards and swiftly teleport us to their kingdom - where we can be free of the iron hand of Sturmguard."
One last coughing fit before the voice goes on, spitting up more mucus - you think this man may be near death in his condition.
"I'm sure the Elves will have a place for you too...exiled hero of Ravenshead..."

All but Romar -
The Kings nod in unison and Sturmguard speaks their thoughts.
"Very well...prepare for your assault. Should you fail or the troops of 'The Master' still come, we will enact the very defenses we have spoken of. Until then, gods be with you..."
"Take what you need from the city and go when you are ready."
The Kings stand and adjourn from the meeting, each to go about their own defenses. King Grandil to the construct army, to prepare the city walls for defense. The Kuo-Toan Chieftain to his troops outside the city, to punch the initial hole in the approaching army and Sturmguard to the people, to prepare them to defend their home...
You are left, high in that tower of Ravenshead, knowing that you have a little over eights hours before you must vein ride to the location of the coming fortress...and try to get in to face their leader and commander.
The Master...
{OK, I have the plan down, I'm just giving you time to procure what you need before the asault. I'll say the city has up to 10,000gp to lend each of you in items (As a single item or split up, your choice and anything from WotC products is fair game) and beyond that, your own money must be produced.
As for the Clerics of The Hidden City, the best they can offer you is a sort of suped up Bead of Force that, if the rolls are good, should punch a man-sized hole in stone at least four feet thick. It will essentially do 100d6 damage in a 5ft radius to non-magical stone one time. Beyond that, they must be present and have concentration to work their magic. They only have time to prepare one such bead and if it fails, then you are on your own.
Anything else anyone want to address? If not, let's vein-ride and get our killin' on!}

She can tie up the undead army with a massive army of animals that may provide you the cover needed if a fight breaks out.

OOC - KMAN, Is there anything that Allesia could help with in stopping that fortress from continuing its path?
