4 - 042: The Fourth Piece

Irinys says little when you gear up and take the amulet from him. He doesn't even bade you farewell as the mage work their magic and the world ripples and fades.

This isn't the first time you've felt the magic of transportation at work...and you're certain it won't the last.

When the world finally comes to focus, it's not far from your dreams. The heat is immediate and unbearable, beads of sweat already forming on your cloaked back. The dunes spread out infinite in all directions, their tops whipped by the passing winds. Dust is everywhere and you find yourself almost dazzled instantly by the sun high in the sky.

[Spot Check] Thankfully, it appears as though you won't have to bear this heat much longer as--coming from the South--you spot two figures atop mounts...possibly camels. They are headed this direction and if you don't move, surely they will spot you.

You had better get your story straight...and quick.

Krysta patiently waits, taking the opportunity to fire between her companions crawling through the hole. [Attack Rolls = 23/19] Both arrows strike an unwitting undead ogre before the hole. [Damage Rolls = 13/15] The Ogre feels the blow, the shafts crackling with electricity, but it does not stop it...

Yuri takes a 5 foot step back and unleashes his mental powers. [Energy Cone, Reflex Saves = All Failures. Damage = 31] This blast of energy is felt by all as a few of them stagger and fall, already hurt by the attacks of others. The rest of them are badly damaged and will not survive another blast of that magnitude...He then calls to the others;

I have made an opening much larger than the one by the pearl! Say your names and enter quickly! I will hold them back!

Alton, upon hearing the commands of his giant-kin friend, melts into the earth and appears next to the hole, clamber to get into it. [Tumbel Check to avoid AoO's = 33] The lithe Halfling easily makes it into the hole, nearly flipping himself clean in.

Girud swings his mighty blade about, reaching for the undead foes. [Attack Rolls = 17/19] Both slam into the beasts, stripping undead meat from bone. [Damage Rolls = 30/27 (57)] In one single attack an undead Ogre is dropped to the ground in three clean pieces. [Cleave Attack Roll = 29, Damage Roll= 30] The remaining Ogre receives the blunt of a secondary attack...

Adelia assist Alton into the hole, though the Halfling needs no assistance.

Galdren (No post, re-focus).

Mordrock checks the door for traps as thoroughly as he can. [Search Checks] He declares the door free of traps. Stands to reason--would "The Master" expect anyone this far?

Garor remains on the full defensive, holding back the behemoth of a stone man. [Full Defense]

The Ogres press the attack. [Vs. Girud = 14] The remaining Ogre near the Half-giant reaches out ineffectually. [Vs. Yuri = 15] The one in range of the vampire cannot land the blow. [Vs. Garor = Nat. 1]

In a series of poor attacks, the Ogres can do little to stop you...the remainder of them move about into better positions.

The colossus however, begins to stamp his fists down repeatededly. [Attack Rolls = 31/34/25/25] Again, only one blow lands on the heavily armored Garor. [Damage Roll = 23]

The battle goes on... {Though not for very much longer if I don't roll higher than a 3 for the enemy's attacks }

{I have to think that the title of this thread is innacurate, but that is for KMan to look at.}

Assuming what Yuri says is true Girud will not complain if it works. IF it works; and towards this Girud is skeptikal. He will take a 5 ft step forward unleashing a set of attacks on the ogre there.

{+1 Axiomatic Greatsword attack, two handed (PA for 5): +10/+5 to hit , 2d6+22 dmg, no crits.}

Once his attacks are done (for good or ill) he will speak his name {free action} hoping that Yuri was not mistaken about the stone's powers. Hopefully he'll be whisked inside, if not then he'll do it the hard way as soon as he can act again.

Girud’s AC: 22 {SR 13}

Quite certain that in this big dry desert not many people wander about but those who come and go from the Dune Palace, Romar thinks it wise to approach the two riders. Before he does so however, he makes it a point to dirty himself with the sand, covering his face, clothes and hair with it as if he had been traveling through this desert for some time now.

And so, after having done this as good as he can, he goes to stand on a point where he'll be easily spotted, and shouts - in a deliberately weary voice: "Hail, riders! I am on a journey to the Dune Palace, but my mount has left me, now alone in this desert, and I fear I am lost..."

Upon hearing Mordrock's words, Galdren feels tempted to open the door, but fights the temptation, instead waiting for his companions to get through. To pass the time, he draws his bow and goes over to stand next to Krysta, also taking pot shots at the ogres.

With the success of the first blast at the ogres surrounding the entrance, Yuri fires yet another volley at the ogres in front of him. He prays that this volley is the last.
