Romar -
{Holy crap! What a speech!}
[Bluff Check] The council sits stunned in silence. More than once, they gaze to the top of their chamber--to the glass dome that houses the crystal shard you so desperately desire--only to shake their heads in disbelief. It is at least a minute before the Human female speaks again.
"Never in our dreams would we have considered what you speak of now Romar."
"We knew of 'The Master' and his power over the undead. We knew of his continual marching across the lands. We knew he had to yet approach the desert...but never would have believed that in our very midst would be the key to defeating him."
A small male Half-Orc, wrinkled and aged, speaks up. It's fairly clear he doesn't agree.
"Not just the defeat of 'The Master', but our own! You take our source of life and we will die. Sure the young and strong will make the trek through the desert, but what of the young and old? Would you kill them just to move the shard?"
A few 'hear-hears' erupt from the older, more established members of the council. Telena speaks up, taking your side.
"Don't be so foolish!"
"We would never ask to willingly take the lives of others and neither would Ravenshead. But you must be open to discussion. We cannot foresake the whole world simply because we have not thought of a mutually beneficial alliance yet..."
The council murmurs in agreement and disagreement. Telena holds up her hand for silence. She returns to meet your gaze, her stoic face a sign of little hope.
"Romar. As this matter affects all who live here, would the emissary of Ravenshead grant us until sundown to make a decision?"
The council turns their cold gaze on you once more.

All but Romar -
Slinking up the staircase first is Girud--massive mace in hand. He manages to make it to the top of the staircase, a flat exit into the level above. As his head peers above the threshold, he takes a peek around. [Spot Check]
This is a large flat area, roughly a hundred feet to a side. There are sparse torches, their flickering light barely doing anything to combat the darkness present here. The ceiling is a mere fifteen feet over head. There are four exits from the room above, each a simple set of stone steps leading upwards, one in each of the cardinal directions.
Slinking about the room is a horrifying beast. It resembles a large dog or bear, it's body over muscled. The creatures neck ripples with a mane of snake-like tentacles, two of which are nearly twice the length. The eye burn a horrible crimson beneath a heavily, bony-played skull. The tail flickers absent-mindedly.
To top the creatures dangerous appearance...it is currently walking along the ceiling with little effort....
Thankfully, it hasn't seemed to spot the peeking head of Girud just yet.
