Romar -
Irinys listens like a child at a bedtime story, eyes alight with imagination. His smiles spreads slowly, like ice melting in the summer sun.
"HA!!...Ha...muhaahaa! HA HA HA!"
Laughter--not quite the elegant response from a distinguished prince you expected.
"Oh...you have done too well Romar, mother will be beyond pleased."
You can already feel your eyebrow raise skyhigh. What was Irinys talking about? He wastes little time in getting to the point.
"For years we've been trying to pinpoint the location of that crystal in the Dune Palace. In less than a single night, you uncover it AND convince them to remove it from the sanctuary."
"Not only have you found it for us, but now we may take it with practically no resistance. Let them leave the city, travel for two or three days and become weary and tired. We will appear from nowhere and snatch it right out of their hands while they are tired and weary from the desert trek. Let them put up a fight...if they are smart, they will reserve their energy for their own survival."
"Oh...let it be said that I'm thankful you're on our side Romar--you silver tongued devil."
Irinys bursts into another round of racacious laughter, holding his gut as it gets so loud. He wipes a tear from the corner of his eye, trying to regain his composure. He places a hand on your shoulder, whether you want it there or not.
"Oh Romar...this is wonderful news. We shall finally have the weapon to destroy 'The Master'. This war will be over in one swift blow and from afar. The world will know the Elves of Astoril are its saviors...and they will know of Romar Belamor, the man that took the final leap."
Irinys looks back to the tower.
"We can certainly get you back tonight, but I must see what progress the queen has made of chasing your enemy-Hirsuthe."
"Will you come and share the news with her as well?"
He extends a hand towards the amber spire.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All but Romar -
Mordrock takes aim and looses another volley. [Attack Roll = Nat. 1, DEX Success/19] Both arrows miss, the first coming dangerously close to embedding itself in Galdren's back.
Krysta moves in, drawing her blade and moving quickly to be free of the beasts' lashing tentacles. [Tumble to Avoid AoO = 10 (base 2)] She cannot avoid and they come slapping into her body. [AoO Attack Roll = Nat. 20, Crit Confirm = Success] The tentacle rakes across her body so hard, it leaves streaks of blood smeared with white, mucus-poison. [Damage Roll = 13, Fort Save = 17 (Base 6, vs Poison) = Fail] Krysta feels the poison course through her form, boiling her blood and pulling at her muscles. [6 Temp DEX Damage]
However, she now flanks the beast and strikes. [Attack Roll = 29] The blade digs straight into the beasts' haunches. [Damage Roll = 23] It howls, nearing death.
Alton fires after moving to gain a clear shot. [Attack Roll = 22] The arrow sails wide, hitting nothing.
Galdren attacks. [Attack Rolls = 22/22, 26] Only the last attack lands, but it cuts deep. [Damage Roll = 13] With the sick noise of the creature losing lifeblood and it's grip on the ceiling, it slips to the ground lifeless. The tentacles drop to the floor with a splat and the chest heaves one final breath...
You look around...examining wounds and wondering what exit to take...

- We always make that joke at home too. It would funny if they could drop a fang or a stinger.

OOC: Ok, so I just have to ask, on behalf of all my friends who play D&D... did the Hound of Gloom drop its tentacle?
