{You may notice the new section. As usual, you may increase your character by two levels. This summarizes the storyline advances, the monsters beaten, the puzzles solved etc. Those of you currently in battle situations (Irris, Tineniel and Romar) please wait until after the battle to level up...assuming you survive!! Muhahahaa!}
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romar - {Liking the new dice roller? Man it makes my job easy!}
Thrusting with all his might, Romar aims for Hirsuthe's chest and torso. This vampire was all he hated, the cause of this long and arduous journey in which he lost so much...it was time for payback. However, the lithe figure is difficult to pin down and Romar can only land one blow on him, a good glancing blow across his mid-section. [1st longsword is a hit for 12 damage]
Hirsuthe, in his rage, dodges and weaves, running in for the fresh meat of Romar's side with this talon-like nails. [Attack Rolls;
[dice=20]
[dice=20]
[Results = 13/14, And he doesn't hit crap with those] Fueled by rage and anger, Hirsuthe cannot land a single blow and can only howl in rage as his enemy continues to stand before him. However, his wound does begin to close...
[Fast Healing, gains back 5 hp]
The battle continues...
{Initative: You, Hirsuthe}
<<<LEGEND>>>
H = Hirsuthe (55/62)
R = Romar
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Irris and Tineniel -
[Udjat is still a little behind. We'll let him catch up]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those in the Fortress -
{Yuri did make the Knowledge (undead) check, so he's clear to make the annnouncement about the Phylactery.}
It's eerie to be in this place of so much evil, the cradle of filth that has ravaged the land...and to have it be so silent. There is no more howling and condescending 'Master' talking down about how feeble you are. No more slow and steady rumbling of the colossus pushing this block fortress along...
But something just doesn't feel right.
Yuri, the reformed undead gives you all an insight--not unlike the one you received from Adolpho Ustgrave, the leader of the Knights of the Purest Star. 'The Master' is a special form of undead, one that keeps his black essence be contained in something for just such a situation as this.
What the 'something' is eludes you.
Thinking it may be the throne here, for what else would the arrogant 'Master' use as a source of power, Yuri inspects it.
[Search Check @ +12]
[dice=20]
[Results = 27] The throne is devoid of traps...and really devoid of anything. There are no markings, no indications that it would be the source of power.
However, it does like it moves away from the wall beyond...
Adelia moves to heal those wounded.
[dice=20]
[Results = 3]
{You can do this in the future too Fangor, just (dice=20) and replace the () with []}
That said, she also gives a good once-over to the stone throne of 'The Master'.
[Spellcraft @ +12]
[dice=20]
She can glean nothing of what enchantments, if any might be upon this throne. It seems devoid of magic.
[Knowledge, Arcana @ +6]
[dice=20]
However, there is something strange about it. It is as though it does have powers, but they are latent. Maybe triggered by the presence of 'The Master' himself, or a pull on a certain spike here or there?
Satisfied they've heard enough to determine this throne is wicked, Girud and Galdren begin working on the throne with the weapons they have.
{The throne has hardness of 15, 200 HP if you truly wish to destroy it.}
Garor, however, brings up a good point--Where are the shards? They were shown on the map of the Elves to be right here, right where this fortress as moments before you entered it.
Are they still here? If so, where? Could they be down on the first level, behind any of the dozens of doors? In the lair of the invisible creature?...where could they be?
