Romar -
Continuing to avoid the Vampire's deadly blows, Romar eggs him on a little while continuing to whittle away at his flesh. [Damage = 13]
Frustrated, Hirsuthe places all the strength he has into the remaining blows.

[dice=20]
[Results = 17/29] The second blow is resounding, knocking you solidly in the jaw. The life-sucking force again slams into your body and your soul tries to resist it...
[Damage Roll]

[Results = 5]
Fort Save @ +11]

You still manage to stave off the will-sucking blow as Hirsuthe only grows more furious. His eyes go stark wide and his nostrils begin to flare.
"That's right...hide behind your magicks...It will make the victory of drinking your blood all the more sweet!"
[Fast Heal 5]

{No Worries on time Udjat. Your timeline is pretty much progressing solo now, so do what you want.}
This canyon is a little over a mile long and it's walls are about fifty feet at their highest. Currently, you're about 1/4 way into the canyon, hiding in some caves along the dried out river bed. The caves above this point are small and do not go very deep into the bedrock edges.
The people of the Dune Palace are actually atop the canyon walls, followed by the Elves of Astoril. You and Telena are really the only ones at the bottom of the canyon. The wagon is currently pushed into a cave about forty feet deep and half as wide, hidden from view above.
{If you want my suggestion, flood the canyon bottom and use the water and wooden wagon to float the shard out. Take your time and PM me if you need more info.}

Those in the Fortress -
{Yuri, You lack 'Trapfinding' a rogue only ability. From SRD;
So to you the Iron safe looks 'untrapped', however, there would be no indication to you that it was. Make sense?}
Giving the strange iron box a good glance over, Yuri can find nothing that would indicate a trap of any kind. He searches the back of his mind to determine exactly what this box may be... [Results of Knowledge (undead) check] The most common form of a phylactery is a small metal box in which there are strips of parchment. Upon this parchment magical runes have been transribed.
However...this iron box is MUCH larger than it needs to be. Could it be 'The Masters' arrogance and his need to compensate?
Adelia sets about using magic to scan the box, looking for signs of what schools may be present...anything to help determine if this box is where 'The Master' hides his soul. [Detect Magic, Focus] The box does radiate magic. {The school present are Necromancy, Evocation, Conjuration and Universal. }
The rest of you take inventory of what else is in this private study. There are dozens if not hundreds of musty tomes, glass vials and alchemal equipment. It appears 'The Master' worked very hard at his magic and it was a great source of pride for him. To decipher the different projects in this room would take dozens of the smartest sages in the land at least a week.
The dead have much time to dabble in magicks...
There appears to be little else in this room to explain this box or much else about 'The Master'. At least at firt glance.
{Who wants to open the box or at least examine it farther. Possibly touch it? }[rand=293323388048084331802637095290434187485837900027982249113701536003]

((Yeah, I am behind - sorry about that. Keep getting distracted with life and work. I have a couple questions about the terrain/situation as I'm having a little trouble picturing it. How high up are the caves that the people are in? How long is the canyon, end to end? And where, exactly, is the wagon with the shard? I want to have Irris/Telena try to use it, I'm just not sure in what way to use it yet. I'll reserve my post until the answers come))
