Romar -
Noticing the overly large bird of prey hovering in the sky, you decide to try and convince this hunter that you are not a slab of meat, but rather a traveller...perhaps just like it. [Speak with Animals]
As though struck in mid-flight, the huge bird flaps its wings a few times and squeals, lammenting a meal lost as its prey suddenly speaks its language. It regains its composure and resumes flapping, becoming a sleek graceful avian again. From high on the winds, it calls down, speaking the language of the birds in return to you.
"All that has passed? There is no time...no time at all..."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Others -
Leaving this broken heap of stitched flesh behind, you head for the exit as fast as you can. Those that are alerted to it can certainly see it--the stone beneath their feet heating up like the bottom of a hearth. The walls begin to glow with heat and the ceiling begins to sag and droop, the heat affecting the rocks with such high temperatures they begin to become like water.
It is with no time left that you all dive through the exit hole and onto the grass beyond. Your mind reels with what it senses. The forest edge and the lands beyond are dark, dusk having just begun to fall. However, from above, as though the sun refused to set, there is an amber glow all about you. Scrambling to get as far away from the block-fortress as you can, you look over your shoulder to see a sight you're certain will not be repeated.
From the heavens, spilling like lava, the orange-amber light enevelops the entirety of the massive fortress. The stone bathed in its glow heats up to white hot temperatures, melting like ice in the spring. The colossus, even the closest of the zombie ogres are bathed in the light and their flesh begins to melt off their decrepit bones. The colossus tries to place its hands over it head, to shield from the light instinctively, as do the ogres...but the light wins over all.
In an explosion of light and molten rock, the fortress and all undead near it are destroyed...
[I'll need a Ref Save DC 20 to avoide taking splash damage from molten rock (5d6) = 21 damage and a Fort Save DC 18 to not be knocked prone.]
Shielding your eyes, you can only listen to the devastation. The wind nearly knocks all of you flat and it certainly forces you to cover your eyes. You hear the 'plop-plop' of the molten rock slapping into the tree line and grasslands around you and your companions.
When you finally raise your head, you can see the devastation...which is complete. The fortress is nothing but a molten blob, most of its walls blown apart and melted so that it barely resembles the square block it once was. The Colossus is nothing more than a pair of melted stumpy stone legs and even pieces of the ogres are not to be seen.
The 'Masters' fortress and his most powerful minions are no more.
[Spot Checks; Galdren, Girud, Krysta, Alton and Yuri successes] Those of you that look at the fortress notice something worth mentioning. In the Eastern side of the block, there is a room that has been blown clean apart. There, partially exposed amid the melted rock and destroyed creatures is shard! It's unmistakable, even at this distance...though it's only a part of the shard, you're certain that there is more of the shard in that room.
Just as you dust yourself off and prepare to actually investigate what the hell just happened...you notice the sky is lighting up again. The amber light is coming back!
{Don't worry, this will only happen a few more times tonight. I just wanted to see if anyone was brave enough to rush into the melting fortress while the weapon was being fired.}
