I know everyone is expecting a game post here, but I think it's time we call this game quits. It's gone on too long as is.
It ran long (over a year) in the pen and paper version playing weekly, and it's over double that now. We are close to the end, you should all know that and I have enjoyed running it for you all, but with players still dropping off and intermittenly posting, it's just not working out.
It started off strong and we've had some good times--you're all excellent role-players. I've enjoyed every bit of Vemu's personal troubles and the changes many of the players have made--Yuri going from undead to undying. The addition of cohorts, Girud and Alton, Krysta and Adelia...even the requested transformation of 'The Rock' from a meager little Goblin to a clumsy Elf. It has been a good game.
Now before you get all super sad, I'd like to still finish this game on a good note--I don't want to just drop it here. I know you've grown with these PCs as much as I have with the storyline and I'd hate to have everyone just drop it right here.
I plan to finish this game in a story-mode rather than with dice and actions of players.
You've done well enough to qualify as "succeeding" and the story will be a happy one with defeat of the Master's re-incarnated form. The things I will incorporate into the story are;
- The defeat of the power-crazy Elven queen and disruption of the weapon.
- The defeat of the master after he re-incarnates.
- The discovery that the Phylactery has been under your nose the whole time...it's Sturmguard's amulet
- The liberation of the land's from 'The Masters' final oppressive run
- An explanation of what these damn shards are
What I want from you guys, as players, is to send me what you want for your PCs. Send in a PM as a bullet list, a story, whatever you want to send it in as and I'll work all of it into the story. Some thoughts;
- Krysta becoming a Knight of the Purest Star. The first woman to be allowed into their ranks.
- Girud returning to the Gathered Nations and assuming a leadership role with his sister.
- Mordrock finally getting some tail
etc etc. I know Vemu may have trouble with this assignment since he's not sure what Romar will do, but I'm here for everyone to ask questions, get suggestion from etc. Whatever you want to see to help bring closure to this game, send it to me. I plan to have this story soon (within a week or two, work forgiving) and I'll post it up as the finale with all player requests worked in.
A new game will replace this one in time, that's for sure, and I'll chalk it up to experience that the epic campaign really only works online with one or two players--no one can dedicate that much time to one game for so long.
I thank everyone who has played or watched this game throughout the TWO years it's been running, and I hope we can have a strong finish.
