With practised grace, Akatas vaults over to stand beside Ewan. Lashing out with a fist, she strikes the beast in its ribs (fort save=15; fail) who immediately freezes mid grapple. Tender continues to sulk at the rear of the party about "not bunching up on him". Mal, you watch on, ready to loose the spell if needs be. Lusione again takes careful aim and this time her shots find the mark. However, as the ice spills over the golden fur, it qucikly dissappears. It seems unaffected by the cold (damage=13, 10 cold resistance). Coppertop, you are unable to use your heavy mace as it is not a light weapon, however, you try to shake off the stunned lion. It cant fight back really so only its size and strength can prevent you from escape. Coppertop grapple: 16 + 7 + 0 + 0 = 23 Lion: 0 + 17 (thanks Fangor!) = 17 Coppertop hauls the lion off himself and stands. Ewan then looms forward...(he hits, and min damage puts it way over the limit). Spearing the lion with both claws, Ewan picks up the lion and rends its apart, the two halves disappearing in a puff of smoke. All is quiet. Ewan, your throat dry and your nerves rocked slightly, your thoughts drift towards your cooler... There is a door directly to your right and a door further on ahead. That one you remember possesses some necromantic magic. The passage stretches onwards into the darkness. Map:

Mal shakes his head. "This is going to be a long day..." he mumbles, turning towards the healer.
"Besides, Tender is right, we know better than to crowd up like that. Keep our heads level, and let's get on with this..."
Mal will then make for the rear of the party, since all he needs is vision to attack. (Keeping at least 35 feet from Tender if possible, while he works the lock.)

Standing a bit shakily he curses under his breath as he surveys the bloody wounds and realizes he'll have to buy new clothes. The flesh mended easily enough, but he had no talent for making cloth do the same. {Drop Endure Elements to spontaneously CLW myself. 1d8+7} [dice=8]+7=9 HP 42/54[rand=147275212202558850789865277250360641794742447679456884835637795179] {By the way; whatever stats you want to run with it's your world man. Though it might be good to know that we're going by old rules. Some spells have changed in description and duration; some feats/rules have been revised or clarified. For sake of ease I use the SRD because it's rules everyone knows and they can be easily refrenced from pretty much anywhere. These are more of guidelines than actual rules really; feel free to change them as you see fit as you DM this world.}

Dont worry. 3.0 ed contains a few quirks. I intend to update it to 3.5 ed. The npc's would be under powered otherwise Plus the fact theres two more characters then there should be. Above all, i'm fair. Coppertops spell deserved to work because the rules said so. I wont crap on you becasue i'm using rules from an out dated system. One day, i'll run a second ed. adventure here for old boy hardcore gamers. I have the old edition of the Temple of Elemental Evil. That'll be fun to play

Reaching into his pack, Ewan procures a new beverage. Fighting always got him riled up, though he never showed it. On the outside, he appears collected. Rending two lions in half was just the mornings work. But in his mind, he wondered why. Lions don't vanish. They spill blood and lie as meat, just as any caribou on the tundra might. This was a natural advantage of some kind, a protection against predation.
Sipping his drink, Ewan knows this is wrong. As his interior composition shifts to match his demenour, the answer is clear.
"These creatures were brought here through magic," Ewan notes, though to the others this is likely obvious. "They were weak sentinels. They must have been sent to protect this place from more common creatures or to scare them off. What we see resist us next, that will determine which it is."

Tender pushes and pulls his way past people's waistlines to get to the front again, at which point he turns and looks back (and up) at them all.
He pauses.
"Don't bunch up on me!!!" he shout-whispers, flapping his arms.
He pauses once more, for effect.
So, this door, is it just a trap, or was it trapped? If it was trapped, we want to take a look inside now...Tender will indicate to Ewan that he should open the door, and that it's safe to do so now.
If it was just a trap, a fake door, I move on check the next one.

Akatas will walk in front with Ewan, after her excuse to Coppertop for not going between him and the lion. Lusione will walk behind or in the middle, no real preference.
Sorry for the lame and lack of post.
