This thread will be our list of variations, deviations and additions to the core D&D rules. We have no desire to reinvent the wheel, but lwe will be using options as variants as well as removing and changing material where needed. Players are free to suggest there own. However, rulings of the DMs stand until changed. If you wish to use anything that seems problematic, such as PrCs, abilities that seem powerful, third party or homebrew material, please ask as this list is not intended to be comprehensive.
Variants and Optional Rules
Hit Points: All hit points for every character (PC and NPC) will be done using average hp. Characters with elite or PC array stats will receive maximum HP at first level.
Version: When two versions of a resource are available, the newest version will be used. This includes updates from 3.0 to 3.5 and errata, which cen be found here. Of these changes, the two most notable are the polymorph subschool and few of the cleric self-buffs (Divine Strength, Divine Favor and Righteous Might).
Prestige Classes: Prestige Classes related to organizations or lifestyle will not be used straight from sourcebooks. As a rule, only Prestige Classes which are intended to enable multiclass combination (i.e. Eldritch Knight, Mystic Theurge) will be used. Other Prestige Classes are possible, but the origin of them will be derivied in game. In short, do not expect to become a Mage of the Arcane Order unless your character makes efforts to create an Arcane Order of Mages. If you have any prestige class in mind, make sure to mention it early on so that you are not disappointed later. We are not concerned with arbitrary prerequisites as much as making these classes flavorful to our own setting.
Races: Not every race is appropriate for PC and/or NPC use in this setting. As it is impossible to provide a complete list, please clear the use of any uncommon race, race from a speciffic campaign setting, or race/subrace from the Monster Manuals or SRD with the current DM(s) before the character creation process.
Spells: Any spells which are not found in the core books (PHB, DMG, MM) or SRD must be approved by the current DM(s), as a number of these spells present problematic features (vague wording, overpowere, unbalanced) which may be unwelcome in this particular setting. If you do not clear these spells with the DMs prior to character creation, do not expect to be granted access to the use of any particular spell(s) which are deemed inappropriate or too controversial within the community.
Barred Material
All Exalted and Vile feats: Our game is not intended on having the extreme black and white views on morality that these sources present. These feats, which can be found in the Book of Vile Darkness and the Book of Exalted Deeds are not appropriate for this game.
Leadership: This feat will not be used. Characters may acquire cohorts through their own devices, such as gaining rank and renown in their guild (to be described in another thread).
Commonly Controversial Spells, Feats, Items and Abilities:
This space will be used to create a running list of spells, feats and abilities that are deemed inappropriate for the game. This list is in progress and subject to revision.
Natural Spell (Feat)
-Wraith Strike (Spell)
-Quill Blast (Spell)
-Divine Metamagic (Feat)
-Bead of Karma (Item)
-Animated (Shield Property)
-Synchroncity (Psionic Power)
-Artificer/Psi-Artificer (Base Class)
-Everything From Forgotten Realms Sourcebooks (I know this is broad, so if you have a specific feature which you feel would like to use, you can bring it up)
