Hmmm...maybe. Depends on how 'videogamish' you make the feel. Perhaps a more generic zombie survival-horror game would be better, just because you have a larger set of conventions to follow and thus a more unpredictable game.

Oh well. I have a better idea:
Who's up for some good old 2e? ;D

Now THAT would be very interesting indeed. I've never played 2e...

Yikes. I barely remember the rules. I think I sold all my 2e stuff @ a garage sale.

Dropping in:
If anyone is TRULY interested in obtaining ANYTHING 2ed or earlier, send me a PM. I've got a store here, Black & Read that has literally dozens of ten-foot long shelves lined with 2ed crap. I'd be happy to pick up and send at request.
Truthfully, I've never seen so many DMG's or PHB's lined up in one place and I'm sure they'd get rid of them cheap.

Alrighty... 2e is not very wanted, so I'll drop it.
How about that:
I've been looking all around for a game idea, and I came across one in the Complete Warrior book.
A no-magic game.
Just the warrior types. No magic items, no spells, no magical healing (which will lead to other ways of fighting except hack&slash. Could be interesting) Just the Keen and Master Work stuff.
This could be a totaly different D&D experience!
I'm trying to run a "new" kind of game. The typical D&D games are great and all, but I feel like trying new stuff.
All races will be allowed, and the following classes: Fighter (Obviously) Barbarian Paladin (with no spells at higher levels) Ranger (no spells too) Rogue Bard (no spells. singing remains though)
As for PrCs, as long as they have no magical abilities, such as spells, enchanting weapons, shape shifting, and anything that qualifies as "magical".

What would the campaign setting be like?

Would it be Conan-ish?

If it's no magic, you get no Keen. As for the style of game, yah, Conan rules, I think it would be pretty fly.

Remember, rape, pillage. THEN burn. ;D Says who? Being part of a renaissance group this topic has been covered extensively on more than one occasion. Usually when trying to disturb those with weak stomachs. It is agreed that in general you want to Pillage first. No sense in destroying that which you want. As for which comes next, the Rape or Burn, makes little difference. Afterall, the bodies will be still be warm in either circumstance. Not to mention that if the Burn is first, they'll put up less of a fight. Realistically I never condone Rape. It is an unforgivable form of cruelty. I can talk about it and make jest only in the rhetorical sense of raiding villages in the days or yore. In that sense it's good for a laugh.

LOL! Do you realize what you're doing, Celebril? You have found the one way to overpower the bard! Seriously. He's got the most unique attack form in the world ( suggestion}, and so while everyone will focus on pumping their AC's, they'll leave themselves COMPLETELY (compounded by the fact that these are all fighter-types, and so have crap Will saves) open to the bard! Go bards!

Um, Keen. That increases the crit range, just for your information. Is it magical? Not really, just an extremely sharp sword. As for bards... Hmmm... Gotta think this through. Well, I'm not sure yet. Something that invloves less fighting and more twists in the plot. I just came up with the idea... Didnt really think of anything.

Um, Keen. That increases the crit range, just for your information. Is it magical? Not really, just an extremely sharp sword. This is the table for magic weapon properties as posted in the SRD: Table: Melee Weapon Special Abilities Minor Medium Major Special Ability Base Price Modifier1 01–10 01–06 01–03 Bane +1 bonus 11–17 07–12 — Defending +1 bonus 18–27 13–19 04–06 Flaming +1 bonus 28–37 20–26 07–09 Frost +1 bonus 38–47 27–33 10–12 Shock +1 bonus 48–56 34–38 13–15 Ghost touch +1 bonus 57–67 39–44 — Keen2 +1 bonus 68–71 45–48 16–19 Ki Focus +1 bonus 72–75 49–50 — Merciful +1 bonus 76–82 51–54 20–21 Mighty cleaving +1 bonus 83–87 55–59 22–24 Spell storing +1 bonus 88–91 60–63 25–28 Throwing +1 bonus 92–95 64–65 29–32 Thundering +1 bonus 96–99 66–69 33–36 Vicious +1 bonus — 70–72 37–41 Anarchic +2 bonus — 73–75 42–46 Axiomatic +2 bonus — 76–78 47–49 Disruption3 +2 bonus — 79–81 50–54 Flaming burst +2 bonus — 82–84 55–59 Icy burst +2 bonus — 85–87 60–64 Holy +2 bonus — 88–90 65–69 Shocking burst +2 bonus — 91–93 70–74 Unholy +2 bonus — 94–95 75–78 Wounding +2 bonus — — 79–83 Speed +3 bonus — — 84–86 Brilliant energy +4 bonus — — 87–88 Dancing +4 bonus — — 89–90 Vorpal2 +5 bonus 100 96–100 91–100 Roll again twice4 —
Also from the SRD regards the Keen Spell: According to standard rules the highest quality weapon available to the standard man on the street is Master Work. There is the possibility of having silver and adementine weapons and the like, but Keen as it's written is a magical enchancemet. However, in your world, you hold supreme power to make this a non magical enhancement if you so choose. I'm not trying to tell you you can't do it, merely playing the part of a rules lawyer before someone else beats me to it. As always it is the DMs decision about which rules you wish to enforce or decline. Have fun.

Yeah, Celebril, if you're running a no-magic campaign, you should definitely take a look at Toptomcat's work.
