Hey guys, sorry that I'm cross posting a bit, but I wanted to know if anyone eles was interested in joining up for a hack 'n slash style Shorts adventure.
I know that the current Shorts are losing steam, and I'm not 100% sure why. I' am looking at reinventing the wheel as it were on this one to try and figure out where I went wrong.
Before I go any farther I'm looking for players to join in my Right Leg game Avaris' Escort. Please PM me if you wish to join. I'm looking to meke this short and sweet, prolly two weeks max.
Now, for the other part of my question/problem. I need a critique for the Shorts. For anyone not familiar with the concept click me to read up on the subject.
I'm trying to get this thing back to brass tacks and figure out where I'm going wrong as a DM. For anyone that has played, I'd really appreciate your feedback. For anyone that hasn't feel free to pick apart the concept for me.
A few of the ideas I've been kicking around:
1. People complain to me about not seeing a character that they want to play. Not having one out of 35 pre gens that they can like. I'm thinking of deleting the unused pregens, and allowing people to create their own players for the game.
2. I (like KMan) dislike the idea of railroading my players into a set path, but apparently it has created a problem. It has been brought to my attention that to streamline the process, I should consider allowing less roleplaying situations where valuable gaming days can be lost to boring dialogue or tredious planning. This is why I'm trying another Short focusing more on the hack and slash element of D&D; Not too much talking, lost of action.
Aside from these two points, I don't recall other complaints. If they are out there, I'd love to hear them. I need the KMans community to help me figure this one out, be brutally honesty if need be.
If the interest for this sort of setting is just gone, then I may consider discontinuing the Shorts. I'd really rather not, but if no one wants to play I've got no game to run.
Thanks guys (and gals).
