Background
Bofrim Lightning-Hammer, the "King" of XCrawl, began his reign fifteen years ago. He was hailed for his ingenius style of fighting which combined dwarven stamina and magic based weapon styles. Though he was famous for his individual style, he was also hailed as a strategic genius as he was the leader of the XCrawl team Hellbent, which worked it's way through the ranks of XCrawl in short order. Bofrim's fame was legendary among dwarves as he brought their race to the forefront during his five year reign at the top of XCrawl. Like all stories though, it came to an end. His team working it's way up through the ranks decided to try against the infamous DJ Devastators XCrawl in Texarcana.
Many supporters and fans tried to dissuade the team from challenging the Unlimited Event as it known to be the deadliest of all XCrawls. Laughing at the idea of his team failing, he picked up Lightning's Fist, his trusty Maul, and walked into the XCrawl. Losing one member early in the event did not dissuade him, but only infuriated him. Pushing faster and harder his team made it through all the levels and found themselves at the last boss in the dungeon, a Red Dragon named Lyxtorani, a terror to the dwarven nation. The dragon, although taking extensive damage, was able to take out the remaining two of Bofrim's team leaving only Bofrim left to face the demon. In an epic battle the two fought on. Both near death, Bofrim used his signature move to fell the beast, but in turn killed himself.
The battle between the three adventurers and the dragon is now legendary in the ranks of XCrawl. The fight has been replayed hundreds of times and is listed on the top ten all time fights.
Not many people know of the life that Bofrim lived outside of XCrawl, and many lavish rumors have flown around over the years. In truth he lived a quiet life with his wife and child, Jarel. Growing up Jarel admired his father above all else. Seeing him fight in the XCrawl brought a smile to his young self. When his father was home, he would hound him to teach him how to fight, and although he claimed to never teach his son how to fight, he did take him a side a few times and give him trade secrets and pointers. It was a tragic day when Jarel saw his father fall in the fight with Lyxtorani.
Even though XCrawl is shunned by a portion of dwarven society, the fact that Bofrim felled the dragon Lyxtorani brought together the factions at his funeral. His funeral was of grand design, and thousands and thousands of friends, family, and fans mourned. Right before the tomb was sealed forever, Jarel walked into his fathers tomb, and took up the famed Lightning's Fist. Holding the maul up high he swore to continue the Lightning-Hammer line with glorious battles. Since that day, Jarel has trained and studied his fathers journals to master the style that his father had made famous.
It was only recently that he announced that he would join XCrawl, and the media has taken a keen interest in him considering the enormous shadow that he has to overcome.
Signature Move
To signal his signature move, Jarel holds his maul above his head with one hand. After doing a complete turn so that all of the cameras get a good shot of him, he grabs his maul with the other hand and brings it's head down striking the ground. This is supposed to signify lightning crashing down to the earth.
The first round of his signature move Jarel holds, with both hands, his Maul in front of himself with the head of the Maul pointing towards the sky. Spinning the Maul to the left side of himself, and once to the right (ie like what you do with a jump rope) he casts True Strike.
The last part of his signature move is Jarel preforming his grand attack. As a swift action he casts Blade of Blood (he can sacrifice or choose not to sacrifice 5 HP) on his Maul. As a standard action, he casts Shocking Grasp and attacks with his Maul, power attacking for everything.
(He may use his Empowered Spellshard for this attack, it does not change whether it's his signature move or not.)
His attack shows the power of lightning and earth combined into one.
[The attack will do up to 1d12 (Maul) + 4 (Strength) + 1 (Magic) + 5d6 (x 1.5 for Empowered Shocking Grasp) + 3d6 (Blade of Blood, -5 HP) + 12 (Power Attack) = 1d12 + 17 + 3d6 + 5d6 (x1.5)]
