Jeremy-
Samuel looks up when Jeremy speaks to him, squinting into the darkness at the car slowly rolling away. Then his eyes grow wide and he crosses himself again. “Lord!” he says in alarm. “It’s them. They’re going to kill him...” The words seem to make him freeze in shock and fear, uncertain what to do. He looks at the departing figure of Elias, and then back to the car.
“Oh, I should just walk away, Jeremy, just let him be. Can’t be messing with those men, no sir. Downright deadly, the lot of them.” He shakes his head, but fails to make any headway in departing from the scene. “But I can’t just leave ‘im to get bumped off like that...”
Samuel seems torn with indecision for several moments, so much so that Elias almost disappears from view before he speaks again. “But maybe..” He looks at Jeremy thoughtfully. “Now Jeremy, you listen close. I can’t go asking you to do anything like this, but those men, they mean to rub out Mr. Elias, you understand? Kill ‘im. And they know me, so if they saw me tryin’ to warn ‘im...” He leaves that thought unfinished.
“But now Jeremy, I would consider it a personal favor if you could warn Jackson about those men. If you don’t want you, I won’t make you, but you might save his life. Just... if you go, you be careful, you hear? And you be discreet. No pointing, no looking at that car. Just tell ‘im and hurry back.” He looks down the street nervously, then looks back at Jeremy. “I’ll see if I can ring the police while you do that – or if you don’t want to go, you can just wait here. I surely wouldn’t blame you, son.” He crosses himself yet again, swigging from his flask.
[Jeremy can try to pursue Elias and talk to him or just stand around, as you like. Either way, Samuel will be hurrying off to find the police.]
Everyone else-
Conversing a little among one another, the suggestion is eventually made to find something to eat while waiting for the appointed meeting time. Joe suggests a diner down the street, and before too long, your motley group is seated and served. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the food is mostly tasty, and certainly reasonably priced.
Time ticks slowly away, and minute-by-minute you grow closer to your meeting with Elias.
As the server brings you your check, you are left with perhaps an hour to spare. Enough time to quickly take care of any loose ends before making your way to the Chelsea Hotel, if so desired.
[Feel free to keep conversing. Just a last chance to take care of anything before we get into the meeting.]
