[Maestro – I realize now that the Nairobi notes didn’t scan as well as I thought. The text is bigger on my computer, but I can’t seem to get a web version with decent-sized text. I’ll work on that. As a quick fix, I’ll try to type in some of the text itself so you have something to work with.
But in short – ‘Sam Mariga, rr-sta’ is an unclear reference. It could be an author, a figure of folklore/superstition, or something else entirely. The ‘Bloody Tongue’ is the cult talked about in the notes, and the ‘Mountain of Black Winds’ is evidently associated with it.]
Rebecca and Tommy-
Tommy catches the subtle shifts in Ms. Atwright’s speech. Not one to pass down a potential lead, he pursues the information.
Ms. Atwright frowns. She hesitates for a moment longer, but eventually gives in to Tommy’s queries, leaning forward a bit so as not to be in earshot of other library workers. “What I mean is, it literally vanished. One moment it was there, and the next it was missing – just an empty place in the shelf where it ought to be. Nobody was in that section at the time, and there was an unspeakable odor about the whole area when we noticed it was missing.”
“I can’t say for certain, but this happened some months before Mr. Elias asked about the book. Maybe in May of last year? It’s difficult to say.”
As she finishes speaking, the woman that took over the desk for Ms. Atwright moves up to your group, a little note in her hand. “I’m sorry to interrupt – did I hear correctly that your names are Ms. Rebecca Devereux and Mr. Thomas Cannon? A message came for you earlier.” She holds out the slip of paper to whoever will take it.
The note is from Sam. On it he mentions some ‘topics of research’ to pursue, per his conversation with Jonah Kensington, and suggests pursuing them. The note is vague enough that anyone unfamiliar with your investigation wouldn’t immediately know what you’re doing, but it highlight several things to delve into.
Sam mentions looking into a cult called the ‘Bloody Tongue’, and seeing about a ‘Mountain of Black Winds’ in African. He also suggests searching for references to a ‘Sam Mariga’. [Anything else you wanted to add, Maestro?]
Ms. Atwright raises an eyebrow as the note-bearer heads back to the desk. “An update from Mr. Elias? Perhaps there is something I can help you with, after all?”
Sam and Joe-
Jonah nods in agreement with Sam’s words about Elias. “Indeed, when he briefly appeared, he seemed lucid... but he also seemed to believe these scribbled notes important. I cannot fathom what drove him to write them, or what they were about.”
“I hope you can make use of this information. Keep safe, yourself. And I will likewise call you if anything new turns up, though I rather doubt that.” He pauses thoughtfully for a moment. “Though... if in your pursuit of this you plan to head out of town, let me know. I may be able to give you the names of people Jackson spoke to.”
When you ask about using the phone, he nods agreeably. “Of course, that would be fine.”
[As you can see from the above segment, they’ll get your message.]
Thurman, Jackhammer, Jeremy-
[Still not entirely clear what’s planned – are the three of you wanting to head back to Sam and Joe and wait on Tommy and Rebecca’s return? It’ll be a while.]

"The book disappeared? Mysteriously at that too. When exactly did it go missing and do you happen to know anything about it? Mr. Elias was pretty adamant about that particular book."
