Rebecca, Thurman-
The man seems a little perplexed by Thurman’s query, looking dubiously over his clothes – and more importantly, those of Rebecca – before giving a slight shrug. “Well, sure, he can come by. Mr. Emerson might be interested in another watchman, or anybody that can lift a crate or drive a truck.” He gives a little chuckle. “There’s not much of a ‘craft’ to it, really, if you ask me.”
When you mention that it’s time to go, the guard tips his hat. “Enjoy your walk, then, mister – miss.” Then he launches back into his route, patrolling the grounds, swinging the flashlight left and right as he goes.
Jeremy-
The trucks are easy enough to investigate – no attempt has even been made to lock them. The cabs are messy but mostly clean, while the rear of each truck is empty, except for a handtruck in each meant for lugging heavy boxes and crates. They seem purely intended for business, and not the slightest sign of Samuel can be found.
As Jeremy is finishing with the trucks, the guard is rounding the corner once again. [Let’s see if we can get some better Sneak rolls here. 56, succeeds.] Jeremy creeps into the best hiding spot available to him – the truck, completely out of view. He opens the door with extreme care, crawling inside and laying still until the guard passes. [Listen roll.] The interior of the truck is difficult to hear from, so Jeremy makes sure that plenty of time passes before he ventures out of the vehicle. The guard has long passed by the time he does so, leaving only the door left to investigate here – or a return to the building’s pedestrian entrance.
Tommy-
Deciding to look out for the strange kid, Tommy abandons his hiding spot to creep along to another building or street, making a long circuit around Emerson Imports to try to explore from a different vantage point. [Sneak roll: 38, passes.] Tommy succeeds in being quiet and careful with his movements, sneaking across adjacent structures until he can clearly see another entrance – a loading dock of sorts, with a garage-style door and one regular, man-sized one. By the time he gets there, the guard has already passed, and apparently did not find Jeremy – wherever the kid may be. [Spot/Listen checks.] For that matter, Jeremy seems to be so well hidden that even Tommy cannot find him in the dark in this place. Perhaps he has already found a way inside?
Sam, Joe x2-
Sam, Joe Average, and “Jackhammer” Joe continue to wait while Thurman and Rebecca distract the guard. After some time, their conversation seems to cease, and they part ways – the couple makes their way further down the street, while the guard continues about is rounds, sweeping the light this way and that. [Spot check for the guard.] But despite some poor hiding places, the guard seems sufficiently hurried by his encounter with the couple that he is eager to finish his patrol and get back to the warmth of the building. The trio goes unnoticed across the street, and soon the man is out of sight.
The gate is clear, and unlocked. Perhaps it is time to proceed further?
