Jeremy, Tommy-
Seizing the logbook, Tommy quickly decides to leave the warehouse, to examine their findings later – after all, the guard could return at any moment. With Jeremy in tow, the two creep back down the stairs, hoping that the have been quick enough – thankfully, it seems they have. But at the bottom of the stairs, both men overhear a man’s voice from one side of the warehouse; the side they arrived from.
“Now that’s strange,” the man says, evidently to himself. “Who moved this here? I could swear it wasn’t like this last time I came around...” Glancing in that direction, it appears the guard has noticed the crate Tommy moved to block the door, though it seems to have done nothing to block the guard’s path. Indeed, there must be other entrances.
The pair quickly dodge behind a set of boxes while the guard’s flashlight swings around the area. He seems to be a bit suspicious now, and is picking his way around the warehouse to see if there are any other signs of intruders. [Hide/Sneak rolls.] Carefully trying to avoid the guard, Jeremy and Tommy creep around boxes and crates, ducking to keep out of sight, trying to move to another door – one presumably at the opposite end of the warehouse, by the other docks. The pair are perfectly quiet, but in turning one fateful corner, Tommy bumps squarely into the guard, completely ruining their exit. [Bummer about that 96 on the Hide roll.]
There is a moment where both men are stunned. “What?” the watchman says. “Who?” And then it seems to dawn on him. “Thieves!”
But Tommy reacts faster, and is off like a shot. The P.I. is quickly outpaced by Jeremy, who [presumably] does exactly as the Tommy instructed: he runs back to the others, and he goes precisely the direction he remembers; back to the door Tommy blockaded.
The watchman hesitates for a moment about who to chase, but ultimately settles on Tommy. The two charge through the darkened warehouse, but Tommy is the faster of them [for once] and he manages to reach the door first. It is apparently unlocked on the inside, for which he is extremely thankful, and he rushes out into the night with the guard close at his heels yelling: “Stop! Thief!”
Jeremy is luckier. By the time he reaches the familiar door, he sees that the watchmen has done him the favor of moving it out of the way. With nothing barring his exit, Jeremy can easily slip outside, into the night, and from there worry about getting over the fence – or out the gate Tommy opened earlier.
[Just need to know where/if you guys are running to. Tommy can effectively outpace the watchman, though obviously if he tries to climb he will have problems.]
Sam-
With the distraction having done its job, Sam creeps out of his hiding place to survey the area, and possibly discover what happened to Tommy, Jeremy, Rebecca, and Thurman. The latter two can be spotted still idling down the way a bit, but they appear to be heading back to the rest of the group.
Continuing on along the edge of the warehouse lot, Sam surveys the area. It is fairly unremarkable: the trucks for delivery of cargo, a loading dock at either end of the building, and the faint light of an upstairs office. Otherwise, there is really nothing to make this particular building stand out from the others.
Just finishing his rounds, Sam then witnesses something decidedly out of the ordinary: the door beside one loading dock bursts open and Tommy emerges from it, covering his face, and fleeing from the watchman with all possible haste. The guard appears a moment later, a little out of breath, with his flashlight held like a club – but he doesn’t look like he’ll catch the P.I. unless he somehow slows down.
Everyone Else-
Rebecca and Thurman quietly rejoin the Joes to keep an eye on the property, just in case something should happen. Everything is pretty still and quiet while the others lurk about, until a figure runs out of one side of the building. The watchman follows a moment later, waving his flashlight menacingly, shouting ‘Stop! Thief!’
On the opposite end of the warehouse, a small, more agile figure emerges from a door. It would seem Tommy and Jeremy have been discovered.
