[You still have all Saturday afternoon/evening to work with before we need to move on to Sunday (and the funeral). A couple options have been laid out; I’ve taken the liberty of summarizing them below, and providing more information where possible.]
Erica Carlyle – With little information to go on from Ju-Ju House, Erica Carlyle remains one of the most likely sources for information about the Carlyle Expedition. Searching your memories and local resources for information about her, it is quickly revealed that she is still in the New York area, just outside the city. Since Roger Carlyle’s death, she has taken over the Carlyle family business and interests, and by all accounts has had great success with her ventures (far more than her late brother did, who from a financial standpoint was a disaster). She is wealthy, has a clean name, and tends to keep to her own affairs on her estate, working through close associates and investors and doing very little gallivanting about.
It would take a great deal of effort and, perhaps, luck to gain an interview with Erica (as Joe Average can assure everyone). She does not like meeting with people unknown to her. She could perhaps be caught on the street while going from one place to the other, but this might not be the best way to be introduced to her. A call could be made to her representatives, but the likelihood that she would respond is slim – you would have to say something to catch her interest, and one can only guess what that would be.
[Idea roll for Sam only.] The likeliest way to contact Erica, in fact, is probably indirectly. Sam knows from general knowledge that Erica’s closest confidant and business partner is a man named Bradley Grey, of the law offices of Dunstan, Whittleby, and Grey. He is likely considerably easier to contact, and if he can be convinced that a meeting is necessary, perhaps he could reach Erica Carlyle for you.
Aside from such conventional means, a quick perusal of the newspaper’s society column shows that Erica Carlyle is holding an upscale party at her estate this very night – certainly not like the wild parties Roger was known for, but it is an opportunity to reach her, if one were willing to try and sneak in, or otherwise gain admittance to the event. Less legal things have been done in the past 24 hours.
Ju-Ju House – While a cursory, daytime walk through the Ju-Ju House revealed nothing, the fearful reactions of neighbors is still curious, along with the unusually watchful winos and homeless (who displayed nothing resembling fear). You cannot shake the feeling that there is still more to this place, or more to Silas N’Kwane – perhaps both. There is undoubtedly danger here as well, but it may be the only way to really know what happened to Samuel, and why Elias was killed.
It has been suggested that the local residents could be questioned, perhaps with some small bribes or gifts to encourage talking. [Idea roll for Tommy.] The private investigator also remembers the abandoned shop near Ju-Ju House. Such a closed down building might be a perfect vantage point to watch the area while unseen – supposing there is anything to be seen.
[Those seem to be the two main options; just let me know what you guys would like to do. You could even split up again, if desired.]
