Lok'Mar, you study Maridosen closely to see whether she truly has other motives....
[whisper=Wicksy,Toptomcat] Bluff [dice=20] -1 {miserable fail}
It is clear she is hiding something...she must certainly think there is something going on around here. [/whisper]

Once the serving girl is out of earshot, Lok'Mar relays his suspicion. "Didn't any of you notice? She's lying, badly. Something's going on. Bandits are my guess."m

All this talk of liars and bandits before proper introductions; the perplexed halfling shook his head. Perhaps this was the way things went in the lands of the big folk.
"Trouble or no," Biggle stated, "I'm glad to be out of the weather, and would be satisfied if this were a lazy town. My name's Biggle, by the way. Biggle Burfoot." The halfling offered no handshake, but instead tipped his drink in acknowledgement of the others at the table, hoping they would reciprocate introductions. For some reason, Biggle felt relatively comfortable and unthreatened by this gathering of soggy travellers.

"Kaz, follower of Heironeous. Bandits should be removed from the vacinity. I think tomarrow on the morn i will offer my services to the mayor to remove them. If any of you would be so willing as to help me you would have my appreciation." Kaz was mildly interested in the bandits, but they are all over these small towns, it wouldn't be a matter to scatter them.

"Well met, Biggle, and you as well, Kaz. My name is Saranac de Tellure, and I am a travelling servant of Pelor. It is the first time I have been in this town, but if you truly suspect bandits, friend, then I am glad I have arrived. It is often the small, self-supported towns that have the worst problems with lawlessness." His amused smile vanishes. "If you wish to help these townsfolk, whatever their troubles are, then you will find me an eager ally.
Tell me, what brings the rest of you here?"

Oh Introductions, thinks Gwen, and one of the humans had a mighty fancy name.
Not to be outdone Gwen spots her opportunity to have her turn. Jumping up onto the bench with her arm raised Gwen proclaims "I am Gwendelisa of the Ghar clan!" then in less grand tones "but you can call me Gwen." Gwen pauses and thinks, "or Lisa, i suppose. Or Ghar, or..." Gwen trails off looking thoughtful. Realising she is losing her audience she continues. "As it happens I am a bandit hunter, so if there is hunting to be done then I am already in the right place!"
In more hushed conversational tones Gwen enquires "Oh. Now I may have missed some human trick here, but how do we know there are definate bandits about? Is it that she specifically said nothing about them at all?" Gwen looks round for an answer "Only she could be in a mood about any number of other things. Maybe the tavern across the way have started serving pizza and her..." Gwen glances down at her bowl "stew sales have been hit? it could be anything. Something to ponder!" Then with a balletic flourish Gwen spins on the spot and sits back down spraying water at those in the vicinty.
"Whoops, sorry. I forgot I was so splashy" She mumbles as an apology.

Grimm muses over the newfound knowledge of names, and bandits. He turns to the fellow dwarf, stating matter of factly, "They seem to want to band together. Two dwarves would be as if adding four humans to their entourage. Let's show them what dwarven warriors are made of!"
Turning to the rest, he calls out his name, "Grimm Thunderaxe here. If'n there's need of bandit slaying, then count me in!"

"Good men, and women all! Heironeous bless you, tomarrow will be a day of purifacation. We will remove the bandits from anywhere nearby and secure the safty of the town! I will drink to that." Kaz says then orders another round.

"Haha! We know nothing yet, so don't get too excited. Perhaps there are others here who might be able to grant us a little more patient an explanation of what, if anything, is happening around here."

{this is another short post so we'll continue in this thread}
Maridosen slinks off as introductions and speculations are banded about the table. She slips out back and returns a few minutes later.
Taking in your temporary abode, you see this is quite a cosy place. A nice roaring fire burns in the centre of the back wall warming the entire room. There are several people here, they look more up market than most people you saw earlier that day. This is obviously the better place to drink and thus full of more affluent clientele. You would think that if anything is happening around here these people might know whats going on....
{ok we can either fast forward to the next day or if there is anything else you want to do now, lets do it!}

(think we are ready for the next day, as a cleric of Heironeous i dont belive Kaz would seek information about bandits from peasants, but would instead speak with whomever ran the town, so that is how it will be done.)

Saranac pardons himself from the gathering briefly, stepping courteously to face the nearest local.
"Pardon me, sir, I hope I'm not disturbing your repast. My name is Saranac, and I've just arrived in town today after a long journey. I'm curious to know, how has the town been faring recently? I hope you had a bountiful harvest?"

Biggle looked on in puzzled astonishment. If there was one thing he learned in his travels, it was that the big folk were unpredictable. This instance was no different. The small gathering of weary travelers had, over the course of one drink, decided to band together to rid the town of bandits. The damp halfling slowly shook his head and chuckled to himself, “Surely, they don’t expect me to join their crusade.” He took a long drink of his beverage, “I’m only here to get out of the rain.”
Biggle sat proper in the oversized chair as the others began efforts to rid the town of ne’er-do-wells. Waiting for hot food and a ready room, he thought about the absurd prospect of joining the group effort. His perspective began to broaden, perhaps under the effect of the ale, as he took stock of the unlikely band. “Two men of goodly faith, two dwarves seeking the same thing all dwarves seek, and a curious gnome. Mister Burfoot,” he thought to himself, “you haven’t been this safe since you left Highburrow.”
Biggle again raised himself to his knees, his chest against the table. He engaged in the table’s conversation, never declaring his intent to join the party. His body language and demeanor, however, clearly displayed his inclusion.

Knowing full well that he is less socially adept than his compatriots, but still curious as to exactly what is going on around town, Lok'Mar clams up, leans back in his chair, and tries to catch a snatch or two of conversation that may clue him in to what's going on in Hommlet. Although she does not say so Gwen is dubious weither asking any other of the inns occupants will really help. Humans seemed to spend all their time just lying to each other. Finding any reliable information would be luck more then anything.
Gwen keeps an eye on the weather. If it actually cleared up she would make her own enquiries a bit further afield.
[If there is a break in the weather either later that night or first thing tomorrow morning Gwen intends going and obtaining some more honest and reliable information about what is going on locally. From the local wildlife.
Gwen has always found badgers and ferrets to be quite friendly and honest animals so she will head to where she would expect to find them living nearby. She finds that normally a simple question about activities of "nasty humans" finds out about any banditry or smuggling activity in an area]
