Lok Mar and Gwen
Lok-Mar over balances himself in his fury gouging a chunk out of the hobgoblin's shield.
Del stabs out at the Hobgoblin again.
[dice=20] +2
Again his blade clumsily and ineffectively clatters off the armoured hobgoblin. It in turn ignores Del and hacks at Gwen.
[dice=20] +4
It however is equally clumsy and the blow is easily parried. The two hobgoblins ganging up on Lok Mar sense that the rabid dwarf will be easy pciking and continue to hack and slash.
[dice=20] +4 [dice=20] +4
They come at Lok Mar with massive over head swings but Lok Mar easily dodges them. The fight continues....
Gwen tries to trip his opponent once more...snaking out the flail, he wraps it around the Hobgoblins leg and tugs for all he's worth.
7 vs [dice=20] +2
{fail} The Hobgoblin tugs back
[dice=20] +2 vs 18
{fail} but doesnt manage to trip the little gnome in return.
Initiative: Lok Mar, Del, Hobgoblins, Gwen

Elmo smiles at your replies "I'm glad you'll help us. You seem well equipped but you are small in number. There are only three of you?"
At the mention of payment, Elmo nods "We would indeed be in your debt if you were to help with this problem. I am sure there are many businessmen and landowners who would pay you well for service. I will make it known to Lord Rufus aswell. He will surely contribute. I cannot say for sure but it will be good but fair reward. You shall also be allowed to keep your spoils of battle. Normally all treasures and monies found on the Lord's land goes to them but he has often waived this in the past in these times of need"

With a screaming cry of animalistic rage, Lok'Mar makes a massive overhead swing- an attack that mirrors that of the doomed hobgoblins before him, but executed with speed and precision as well as brute power.

This guy didn't dodge much but he was stubborn about falling over. As Gwen continues circling him (Another 5' step to be in flanking position with hunter. She made a 5' step to be below him last turn which you have not shown) she gets out her sickle.
He had definately rocked last time. Gwen was sure she had spotted a weakness there that would allow her to trip him this time.
She tries again. Melee touch attack roll for trip attempt with flail: [dice=20] +6 (+5-2 using two weapons +1 gnomish goblinoid hitting bonus +2 flanking)
Opposed Strength check to trip: [dice=20] +1
Opposed Strength check to avoid being tripped if above check fails: [dice=20] +1 (drop flail if this fails)
Free melee attack roll if hobgoblin tripped: [dice=20] +6 (+5-2 using two weapons +1 gnomish goblinoid hitting bonus +2 flanking)
damage roll: [dice=6] d6+1
Melee touch attack roll for trip attempt with sickle if he still stands: [dice=20] +6 (+5-2 using two weapons +1 gnomish goblinoid hitting bonus +2 flanking)
Opposed Strength check to trip: [dice=20] +1
Opposed Strength check to avoid being tripped if above check fails: [dice=20] +1 (drop sickle if this fails)
Melee attack roll if hobgoblin tripped: [dice=20] +6 (+5-2 using two weapons +1 gnomish goblinoid hitting bonus +2 flanking)
damage roll: [dice=4] d4+1
{OOC: it would seem tripping people is harder then I had hoped. I suppose I should start rolling higher then a 7 on my strength checks)[rand=90135577116338244353148349489954085615475902982184081018494951759]

Lok Mar and Gwen
With a roar, Lok Mar brings his axe down upon the hobgoblin splitting its skull in two spraying gore over the grass. Before the dead hobgoblin has hit the floor, Lok Mar swings his axe once more cleaving onto the other attacker slicing through its hip. It howls in pain as you yank the blade free.
Del stabs out again with his shortsword.
[dice=20] +4
{threat}
[dice=20] +4 {fail, no crit}
[dice=6] +1 damage
The hobgoblin attacking Lok Mar decides he should be somewhere else fast and backs away from the frenzied dwarf, shield held high. He quickly melts into the bush {full withdraw}. The hobgoblin attacking Gwen eyes Del for a second for a retalitory blow but his eyes dart to the mangled remains of his comrade and the trail of blood left by the other hobgoblin into the forrest. He also backs off keeping himself defended from attack.
The battle is over. They have fled for the lives (you can follow if you like but they'll not put up much of a fight. They are well beaten).
{Gwen, you are saved from a third embarrasing trip attempt}
Del wipes away the blood from his sword and smiles " Thank you strangers. I thought i was a gonna. I'm Del, i trap animals. What brings you out this far?"

Saranac nods. "We appreciate the generosity, I'm sure, Captain Elmo. The wealth does not concern me as much as the opportunity to put a stop to this threat. There are only three of us here, but I am sure there are others newly in town who would be willing to join us. Perhaps we could find them and relay your offer this evening, and come back to meet with you tomorrow?"

(Lok'Mar is Enlarged, and still gets an AoO despite the hobbo's Withdraw. [dice=20]+7, a miss.) The shaman slowly comes down from his towering rage, muscles slackening and breath coming hard. He leans shakily against a nearby tree and dismisses his spell, shrinking back into ordinary proportions. "Oh, you know how it is. Adventurers looking for trouble. Happy to have found some, too- when we hunt down that bandit's hideout, it'll feed us for a good long while. Double good luck that they're hobgoblins, too. Always did like cracking their heads." Gwen darts around collecting up her hastily discarded armaments.
"My they were strapping fellows weren't they? Did you see those calves? Good job scaring them off there!" Gwen calls to the shrinking dwarf.
"Do you get troubled by their type alot up here? It would seem a risky business trapping animals in these woods if there are groups of well armed hobgobs about? What animals do you trap to make it worthwhile?" Gwen asks the trapper. Who looked fairly unprepared for conflict.

Grimm merely nods his approval, noting that he would like to rest his eyes on gems instead, but coin will do...
"Aye, let's find those others and be off to this place. No time like the current to start our little cleansin'"

Del gathers his napsack and shows Gwen the contents - Mink, a small, viscous woodland predator well prized for its soft fur. Perfect for making into clothing. Expensive clothing. He smiles slightly nervously 'round here i live off the land. I trap animals for for food and clothing. These though fetch me a good price in Hommlet. Joman at the trading post pays well for them. He must trade them with city folk. We used to be attacked fairly regulary by those things at one time when the temple was on the rise. Things got better when the militia cleaned the place out with the help of adventurers. Its worrying though....i'd be a dead man if it werent for you. I guess things are on the turn again"

"Except this time, the adventurers showed up almost as soon as the problem began." Lok'Mar grins. "We'll have this sorted out for you folks posthaste." The dwarf kneels to strip the dead hobgoblin of anything of value.

Del nods at Lok Mar's comments "Yeah? Thats good but you best be careful. I've seen things up there...dangerous things. I've seen people poking around that moathouse. Yellow robed buggers that had dog things with them. Horrid they were. Worse still, i saw but two days back a dragon! A little 'un but it was still a dragon. A blue one at that"
"You'll want more than the two of you for that!" With that he chuckles to himself and continues baiting the traps.

Turning to Kaz and Grimm, Saranac nods his head towards the door. "Shall we head back to the inn for a spell? I could use a bite to eat, and we may run into a few of the others.
Thank you, Captain Elmo, we'll come by to meet with you again before we head out."

"Ah. Don't worry Del. We met some keen sorts last night in the pub. How about you finish up with your mink traps here and accompany us back there? Then you can tell us all what you have seen in the warm with a pint in hand."

Del smiles "I appreciate the invite but i dont really like it in town. I dont get on too well with some of the others. They call me names....bastards. I've got to get these pelts prepared anyway before they go bad. Maybe some other time though. Watch yourselves!"
With that he gathers his gear up and leaves.
Lok Mar, you strip the hobgoblin of its gear. You find a battle axe, rusty but servicable, some banded maille armour, a dagger, 8gp, a water skin and 1 poor ration.
