Biggle takes the opportunity to cast Mage Armour protecting himself with his magics. Gwen and Grimm check for tracks. A few minutes of study reveal several sets of tracks belonging to humanoids. They are old....no less than a week old. They seem quite jumbled though so it is not possible to determine race and number. It does however seem the Moathouse is far from uninhabited.... The rest keep an eye out for any signs of danger... ...but you see nothing but the wind blowing the reeds and ripples of water around the moat. All seems dead quiet.... {ok, what do you guys want to do? Go to the gate house or try to find another way in? Or just run away? } Here is a map of the moathouse. Let me know where you want to go.

Saranac motions to the others to fall into line behind him.
"It looks like the drawbridge is down and the gate is open; unless anyone has a better idea, we can head right in. Grimm, maybe you and I can take the lead."

"Sound battle plan, be ready for anything. From kobolds to elementals, to children, you never know what to expect." Kaz was ready.

Gwen inwardly groans. She had all sorts of better ideas then just marching into a fort, even a half ruined one, probably full of hostile beings. If this was human tactics Gwen was amazed they ever successfully slaughtered other races at all.
Whatever Gwens doubts she decides she is not going to stop the humans boldly striding in if that was there thing.
"Sure. You tall ones at the front lead the way. we are right behind you." Gwen calls.
She will follow along but move into cover in the gatehouse as soon as possible. She was her bow and a hide roll ready.

“Are we sure the drawbridge is safe? If there are inhabitants, then might’n the entrance be trapped?” Biggle noted, taking a moment to load his crossbow in what seemed a hurried fashion. It was obvious in his voice that he preferred prudence over boldness.

Saranac eyes the smaller members of the group, obviously none too enthused about his plan.
"If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears, but I think we should at least settle on something before it gets dark, mm?"

"By all means then, Sir. Proceed." Biggle thought charging in to be less than prudent, though he didn't care to push the issue. After all, he wasn't the one crossing the bridge.

"Fair enough" Nodding his head towards Grimm, Saranac loosens his sword in it's sheath and starts towards the gate, almost walking in a low crouch with his eyes fixed forward on the ramparts and the gate. When he reaches the drawbridge, he'll take a look all around him, and then move up to the door's edge, sneaking a look inside the compound.

Grimm shakes his head at all the talking, starting to move towards the drawbridge at a steady pace. He keeps pace with Saranac, halting when he does to inspect the bridge. Having the ability, Grimm takes note of the stonework and such, seeing if there had been any recent modifications to the work.

He then takes the time to listen to their surroundings, for any noises out of the ordinary. Listen +5[dice=20]
Of course, his grumbling belly drowns out any alertness he may have afforded by their taking the time to stop and survey the scene...[rand=216982235087882720025174102246975361368906198388217835536329917265597]
