I know there have been a lot of new games lately, but if anyone is interested and there is a clear space on the shorts board, I have a short-view campaign that offers something of a twist on the norm of d&d play that I've had fun with table-top, but it would be even better on a Pbp forum.
Here's how it works.
Players would start out in the usual way, making characters on 32-point buy system and submit them to the DM. Characters will start out with five levels and can be of any of the usual basic classes (though I wouldn't mind some of the classes from the 'complete whatever' supplements if you have them.) The DM (as played by Ryngo) would then resubmit the character to each player with a twist added on.
The 'twist' could be in the form of some variation on your race, extra levels in a prestige class, or some interesting new equipment you like to keep on the DL. Though the character sheets will be posted for everyone to see, the tweaked character sheets will remain a secret between the DM and each player. Alignments will also be completely left out of the common view.
Each player will also receive information on his/her employer and that employer's objective for the character. Characters are not required to complete the objective (though, it will make employers angry if they don't, but that can be fun too). This information will also be classified.
Now you find yourself running around with a group of people you don't know who all have some shroud of mystery about them and their directives could differ entirely from your own. Also, you will have good reason to want to keep your secrets secret, so players can post as usual, but also send PMs to the DM (as played by Ryngo) for actions they would like to do inconspicuously. Players can (and probably will) figure out each other's secrets to their delight or dismay, so nobody knows (especially the DM) where this whole mess is going to crash, but in the end we all have a crazy story to tell. I could even save everybody's secret PMs and add them in once the adventure is over so other's can see what's been going on behind the curtain.
This is not a long term adventure, but it would be VERY important for those who start it to stick with it for obvious reasons. So, tell me what you think. Anybody interested. I'd say six players would be ideal.
