Phoenix Homage
The metropolis of Phoenix Homage is endless. Few people know where its walls are and no one in recent memory has ever ventured outside. Who cares? Everything one could ever want can be found within the city. The variety of neighborhoods is staggering. There is no known complete map of the city and no one has ever done a complete survey. The city is so vast, there is no central government. Sections of the city simply organize to form neighborhoods or districts or boroughs or whatever is most useful for the local residence. As a result, there is an astounding variety of cultures and populations within Phoenix Homage. The metropolis is truly an anthropologists' paradise.
--
Yesterday, you found a postcard mysteriously tucked into the folds of your cloak. In clean crisp ink, the front of the card reads, "Investigators Wanted". On the back of the card is a lopsided circle colored in a reddish purple. Strangely enough, the picture reminds you of a plum. A plum? Plums are rare. Most people have never seen one. In fact, the only reason you know what a plum looks like is because in the past, you happen to have visited Triangle Park.
Triangle Park contains the only known grove of plum trees in Phoenix Homage. Of course, no one has ever surveyed the entire metropolis, so one couldn't tell for sure. Anyways, for three years now, the park has been off limits to visitors because an ominous flock of ravens has taken over. The birds have never attacked anyone but two-thousand shining black eyes is enough of a deterrence.
This begs the question: Why the hell are you now standing at the park gates? Curiosity? Too many mystery stories when you were a child? Or maybe, you simply need a job. Engraved on a plaque on the gates is the same stylized plum found on the back of the postcard. The plaque reads, "Welcome to Triangle Park. Home of the Plum." Behind the gates, the setting sun casts blood red light on countless ravens. They sit and watch.
Well, at least your are not alone. Strangers stand beside you. Each probably has the same mysterious post card tucked safely away.

If you want, your character may have had hints that more "unnatural" things exist. Nothing specific though, keep it vague.
Notes
- This will be an urban adventure, a mixture of Cthulhu and Lankhmar. You, along with everone else, were born and raised in the city. If you want to be a Druid, Ranger or Barbarian then please see the House Rules section below.
- Players are encouraged to participate in the creation of the many aspects of the city. For example, players of cleric PCs must create their own god. They can even describe the complete heirarchy and inner workings of the associated church.
- The general populace is entirely human. There are no such things as orcs, halflings, elves, etc.
- The general populace is very superstitious. However, few people have ever had encounters with something non-animal, non-human. Most stories of monsters begin with, "My friend knew someone who said ..."
- Forget about all the creatures in the Monster Manual. I guarantee you will encounter nothing familiar.
- The idea of a vast city to which the players contribute as much as the DM is a concept borrowed from Phoenix's PBP game "Metropolis" on Enworld.org.
The Roster
1. Arclite (cleric)
2. Toptomcat (rogue)
3. TheUdjat (barbarian/ranger)
4. VemuKhaham (bard/paladin) (DM approved alignment shift to make build work)
5. spiral (fighter)
6. maestroxc (monk)
Just to clarify, there can be more than one new member in the game. I just want to make sure we have at least one.
