In case you haven't been following the Guild thread, there has been some talk about starting up a new brand of game here on K Man's. So now's your chance to catch up. We're planning to run a little prologue adventure to see how things will work out, a bit of guild flavor mixed into the quest and combat that we're all familiar with. Just a small taste to see if it is worth persuing as something more longterm. So before we go ahead and ask KMan to give us some boards so we can kick this thing off, It would be helpful to know who is ACTUALLY interested in playing The prologue adventure shouldn't take any longer then a few weeks. We need about 6-8 players. Each character will be level 4 (32 point buy) and should plan on being a member of one of the following guilds Federated Acquisitionsor The Farseekers GuildWe'd prefer an even split if we can get it. So if you intend on giving it a shot then let us know so we don't end up doing all sorts of work for nothing. That's never good. We'll give it a few days so everyone who wants to will get a chance to weigh in

Those who wish to join on the Federated Acquisitions side would be contracted adventurers responding to an ad such as this:
Proclamation[/size]
Federated Acquisitions announces that it requires an exploration party of three (3) to four (4) members to investigate a local site that is thought to contain abandoned valuables. Travel is minimal, infestation by vermin or undead highly likely. Site may be trapped. Party will use own supplies. Specific acquisitions targets will be kept by Federated Acquisitions. Other valuables will be split 70-30 to the party. Low level of risk. Full details upon approval. Inquire with Kyle Dendermills 300 Handlebrook Street.

Of course I'd still like to join. This week from tomorrow on I'll have time to create a character. Thursday next week will be the last day of my exams. After that I'll have more time than I can handle.

Just as a little aside, i'm pretty busy with thesis writing for a while and have had little time to do updates for City of the Spider Queen. Perhaps we could take a break from it, thus allowing the players to devote time to other things? I like the sound of this guild game, but cannot take time out to play. I will however watch with interest. Hopefully you'll have maybe a few more players to test run the game?

I'm in; sent a message to Lin and Skakes saying so earlier. That's three so far.

I've talked to a couple of friends who will be joining the game as well, so we've got five currently, bringing us very close to our 6-8 goal.
I know Japic and whatever name Josh ends up using (currently Petunia in HoF) are both going to be in Federated Acquisitions. How about everyone else? Once we get the players and boards I'll post more information to help guide the creation process.
One general note is that this is a prelude not in the "introduction" sense, but more of the "test run" sense. As such, You can always change your character for the main game should you not like yours. No need to make a masterpiece, just a good solid personality for a short quest.

Well we seem to be coming along.
We have one other friend who may join the Farseekers as well, and then whatever the other peeps want to decide on.
I think it would be best to PM us your character sheets when you're finished with them. Just so we can do a quick mechanical check and you should be good to go.
Not really going to set a deadline for that until we finalize who's playing.

I'll play. Lin is tempting me into his guild with his proclamation already but I will happily make an excuse to adventure for either side.

A friend of mine (username Mellon) is also interested in joining. He'd like to join the Farseekers guild, but he's currently waiting for registration confirmation. I figure there's still an open spot left but just in case, I thought I'd say it.

Though Spiral's away, I wonder if he wanted to join up. It's OK though, if this goes well and we want to stick with it I'm sure he'll have lots to do. He was talking about that encyclopedia idea of his and making maps and stuff.

Hi everyone,
I am the friend in question, as you might have guessed. My actual name is Frank Cornelissen.
When Vemu told me about this campaign I was a bit sceptical at first, but now, having read all threads on the subject on these boards, I must admit it looks rather promising. I have really become enthusiastic about the campaign, and would like to participate in it as a player. I'd prefer to join the Farseekers Guild, as Vemu stated.
Hope this is possible...

Sure it's possible, just be sure to brush up on all of the relevant info and get started on buidling your character.
Remember, Farseekers players will not be starting out as actual members of the guild. They to be awaiting initiation, so I hope that should help a bit in terms of having your character's motivations more personalized if you plan to add backgrounds. I would like to see something, even if it is brief.
As it is a test run for the game, it is also a test run for the character, to see if they're cut out for the guild, so don't worry if you don't think that your character concepts don't exactly fit in with the type of people that Farseekers is looking for.
Also, remember that the guild's alignment does not necessarily have to be reflected in the character's. It helps to have a good heart, but your own character motivations can be as personal as you'd like.

With Loopmottin about to bite the dust, I'll have room for another game. However, I may have some unavailable-to-post days June 1-13 as we get started. I'll pursue membership with the good-hearted Farseekers if there's still room.

If you do then I've got 4. you, Vemu, Mellon, and my friend from home. I just need to get him to post.
And it looks like Lin's got 4 as well. Jap, similar, Cel and our other friend
We'll probably ask that the characters are completed by sometime next week and then we can get this show on the road either next week or the week after.

Well, this looks good. Lets start seeing some character sheets/concepts!
A couple of quick reminders. As a prologue, this game is going to be moderately railroaded. Our focus is to attempt to run two simulataneous stories as well as introduce some of the personality and personalities of the guilds. Much (all) of the setting is still a work in progress, so the prologue is also a stalling tactic so that we can get all that ironed out.
For your characters, backgrounds are not really required at this point, so focus on making a personality and the mechanics. The background can form as the image of your character solidifies in your mind.
In case you haven't seen, character creation guidelines can be found in the guild forum.

I'd be one of the friends from home then. Just tossing a couple character concepts around in my head, should have one down for you by tommorrow or the day after.
