Announcing a new game, set in the old TSR Marvel Super Heroes setting/system, and one of my first forays into DMing. This game'll be good for those seeking a mechanical or thematic change of pace. The rules are available free online at www.heroplay.com/features/rules/marvel.php, though new players should download only the Player's Book, Ultimate Powers Book, and the Realms of Magic books if you want to use the magic rules. Character creation is fairly loose: I'm not insisting on random generation, and I'm not disallowing the use of existing Marvel characters if the player so desires (though original characters are encouraged). However, because of the nature of the game, a few concrete rules must be put into place. -If you choose an existing Marvel hero, they must be neither extremely powerful (such as Magneto or Juggernaut) nor a super-well-established pillar of the Marvel setting (Captain America, Iron Man). They cannot be currently serving in a high-profile hero group. The same goes for original characters: no uberpowerful cosmic entities, and no ultra-experienced media darlings. -While a certain amount of initial reluctance to work in a group is acceptable, the personality of the original or established hero must be such that they can work in a hero group without causing undue havoc and conflict with antisocial behavior. This means that villians are OUT, even the co-operative ones. -No gods. Note that I'll be playing fast-and-loose with Marvel continuity: while it will be the Marvel Universe that we play in, it will not be the Marvel Universe at any particular time period. :-D

Sign me up, once I get a hang of character generation, rule etc. I post an original character.
and by franchised do you mean that all the heros are going to have to go in on buying an evenger's title and setup in an obscure location? Like "Avengers: South" -Main villian; Mexican Illegal immigrants

I'm very interested in this game, hard to find people playing it online. I've very familar with the old TSR rules (I've had the game since the late 80's) and already have all the books on file. There is actually a site with far more PDF's than Heroplay, including all the Gamer Handbook's and most published adventures, so if you want that link just let me know. I think it's smart to play loose with continuity. I'm assuming your going with something similar to the WB's Batman/Superman/JLA series DCU stance. Sort of an ideal Marvel Universe. There really hasn't been any good continuity since about 1991 in the Marvel Universe anyway If you need another player count me in. I'm thinking of playing a magic user.

Come right in!
After you and Japic joining, however, I think I'll have to declare setup closed. This should be fun, all!
