Man, it's SO good to see these boards back up and running!
Luckily, I can jump right into the campaign, as it's not missing any posts. I will have mine done tomorrow morning.
I just hope that we didn't scare off any of the newbies!

Good indeed! I don't think anywhere on the boards posts got lost, though I can't be sure. At least they say they will be restoring all data.

The wait is over, welcome back all. Hopefully these guys have learned a lesson and won't leave the doors open anymore. Those pesky fires get into everyone's business these days. Best to install firewalls to keep them at bay.

I just hope that we didn't scare off any of the newbies! For a moment, just for a moment I thought "Oh. Did Kman forget to pay for his server space?" But that's just because that once happened to a different forum I was active in. It's good to see that Kman's is back up!

Man, what a gut-wrencher. I sat here thinking 5 years of data, 5 years of stories...5 years of life. Poof, gone.
So...anyone got a clean pair of shorts to lend me?
I applaud ProBoards for their efforts and distater recovery plan.

It occurred to me and Badasterysk, as we were discussing the potential ramifications of this, that maybe we need some kind of back-up plan for if something disastrous happens again. If nothing else, perhaps a way to contact everyone on the boards to ensure that we can move to a new board if necessary.
And, as you pointed out, some way to back-up all our precious stories on here.

I think Proboards has a good disaster recovery plan, as evident by their ability to restore up-to-the-minute data. The only problem is that I don't control the data.
Maybe we can get them to send us a data backup? Not sure on format or what not.

As to a way to contact everyone, alot of us have email addresses with messengers in their profile, but without kmans up we cant find those addys so i suggest anyone who has a messenger put it up for all to add, or just an email so we can stay up to date with the issues and when they will be resolved. That or Myspace, myself and Shakes both have them to my knowledge, but i dont know of any others.

you know, I can easily backup this data. It's a form of webpage archiving, available to anyone really. It's simply having the space needed to backup the data. I just don't know about a retention policy, as well as the schedule preferred.

And, as you (Kman) pointed out, some way to back-up all our precious stories on here. Copy and paste, baby. Copy and paste.
