[Tommy pawned his things for $250 in cold, hard cash.]
Scotland Yard-
The inspector watches Tommy and Sam steadily as they speak, and nods when they assent to aiding the investigation and abiding by his terms. He listens to Tommy’s speech about Mary, and though his expression is not unsympathetic, he remains silent. Only when the man finishes does he reply.
“There is, Mr. Cannon. Unfortunately not as much as I would like. As you already no doubt know, the murders have been fairly systematic—bludgeoning wounds all over the bodies, and a stab through the heart to finish. Most of the victims have been Egyptian—hence the name—and many of them, not surprisingly, seemed to frequent a place called the Blue Pyramid Club. It’s a favorite place of many Egyptians in the area. Several stakeouts were posted, but nothing unusual happened.”
He frowns thoughtfully. “One of the victims was reportedly heard crying out the word ‘Hotep!’. My discussion with the Penhew Foundation revealed this to be an ancient Egyptian word for ‘rest’ or ‘peace’. I have been able to make nothing of this trivial incident, but if there is indeed a connection to an ancient cult, it may mean something more to you. The scholars I consulted thought nothing of it. These are the same men that found the cult angle laughable, though, so their reaction is not all that surprising, I should think.”
Inspector spreads his hands on his desk, sighing almost in resignation. “The rest of what we’ve gathered would not help you. Analyses of crime scenes, coroner reports—we’ve even attempted fingerprints, but this is no help without a lead. I can discern no connection between the victims—aside from the club—and the Egyptian community has not been at all helpful in that regard. Most would rather sit on their hands and avoid outraging whoever the killers might be. Any witnesses we’ve discovered have only heard, not seen anything, and have always arrived on the scene too late.” He rubs one temple. “It has been thoroughly frustrating.”
“I’m sorry I don’t have more to offer you, gentlemen, but most of our leads have long dried up. I hope this cult angle comes to something, though I can’t say I have much faith in such a thing.”

“Is there anything you can help me with, a place to start maybe?”
