It's been six months since I've worked on Venus, which is far too long. I'm still not certain when this setting will get to its finished stages, but I've been doing some thinking, and to that end I'll be making some changes in my little corner of the world, here. As usual, I welcome all input into the Worldbuilding process, as this is a group development. But I am coming to some more firm ideas about where to take this world, and hopefully that will inject a little life into this project.
To those ends, I have locked all the previous threads discussing this project so we can start more-or-less fresh. I have a list of subject to tackle regarding the world, and I want to try and handle them one-by-one. Once we've got one section provisionally completed, we will move onto the next, and then the next, etc. When all sections are complete in their first version, we'll polish things up.
Once the setting concerns are out of the way, then we will focus on how to mechanically represent everything. I have some theories on this, but I think it will be clear what we need once we have the flavor taken care of.
I still think this will continue to be a years-long project, but hopefully work can begin steadily again. I would love to put this setting to use as a story world or a campaign world one of these days.
In the coming days I will post a revised Mission Statement, to keep us on track and update the project's progress. Then I'll throw up the first section (Venus: The World) which will discuss the physical attributes of this fictional, terraformed Venus.
Anyone who would like to jump into the project and contribute is welcome to--please announce your presence in this thread. If you're just coming by to watch a world being developed, that's fine, too. And to my longtime collaborator on this project, Vemu... I hope you're still with me here.
That's all for now. See the Mission Statement for more info.
