So, with Spiral's mention of Dragonlance, my gears have been turning, thinking of the possibilities of running a game in that setting around here. But as I told Spiral, Dragonlance poses some questions, and before I get too far ahead of myself I need some answers. I was going to just figure these out myself, but I feel games are driven by player interest--so I'm turning to the prospective players for opinions. For starters, the question is very simple: Would you want to play? Pending the outcome of this poll, there will be others--What Era? What type of game? You'll see. But before I get too immersed in planning, I want to see if this is even a viable option--any of it. If you don't know what Dragonlance is... I'm very sorry, because it's tricky to explain. The world has a vast, vast amount of history, but it's basically a high fantasy world with epic themes, heavy involvement of the Gods, plentiful dragons and dragon-based creatures, a unique arcane order, and other quirks (like Kender). However I run it, it will be in 3.5 with some setting-specific rules, so if you're unsure, you can assume this will basically be a story-heavy D&D game in whatever capacity I eventually choose to run it. To tease, some of my initial thoughts include: - War of the Lance retelling (your characters instead of the iconic heroes) - Two concurrent groups, one evil and one good, involved in a campaign that will overlap (WotL or Age of Mortals) - The printed campaign Key of Destiny - Something else, possibly in Age of Despair (pre/post/during WotL) or Age of Mortals ('current' time). But I'll get to asking about all of that if there's sufficient interest in a game at all.

I would play...but I don't even have 1/2 the time necessary. Sorry man, I'll have to be a sideliner on this one. I would love to play a Minotaur Warrior of Nethosak...

I would be interested, but I think that I would need to have one of my current games end first. Just way too much to read. Kind of why I'm not going to join or attempt to join KMan's new game, even though it could be cool.
But If I get to be Sturm, I'm there. At least he dies in the beginning after getting to be a total jerk to everyone.

I was thinking earlier this evening, "Man, I hope Udjat runs that Dragon Lance game!". I am really feeling like doing some role-playing again now, it's been too long. I would love to play a Kender. A story heavy world like Krynn is just what I'm looking for too, and I'd learn a lot for my own DM'ing in the world. Additionally, I think there is a fair amount of DL experience around here, it could be a very long running and awesome game with DMs running in shifts of a year or so. I'd vote War of the Lance era or Age of Mortals. Please do not run Key of Destiny as I am basing a lot of my current writing on it for my game here at home and one or two of the players-to-be frequent these boards! =)

I voted yes, love the series altogether. Personally i would love to play a Draconian just cause they are completely unlike the other races (cept dragonborn from 4.0 ) But i would play in any setting, but War of Lance Era would be difficult unless we were the heroes for the opposite side, you know, working with Kitiara and Lord Soth :DD EDIT: Or i've always wanted to play a certain type of Dwarf that is found only on krynn you wanna talk about the only thing which has competition to the beetle for survivability

A kender and two gully dwarves. We're off to an awesome start. Despite the five 'Yes' replies on the poll, I really get the impression that two of them should've been 'No' (I'm looking at you, KMan and TZS). The purpose of this poll is to try and get an accurate count for the number of players I'd have if I ran a Dragonlance game--If it's enough, I can proceed; if not, no game. If Shakes and KMan are both planning to play, awesome, but it sounds like neither of you are. So change your vote. I appreciate the support, but I'm trying to figure out what I've got to work with here. If it seems more viable to postpone the game until something ends, I'll do that. Which would be a long time, 'cause I'd be waiting for GFYD...

Haha that's not a bad idea. The 'adventures' of gully dwarves, Krynn Gnomes, and Kender would be very entertaining. Their scale of helping the War effort would be like, providing minor boons for the (real) heroes, since they are much less capable races. (Not everyone can be an Uncle Tas and save the day)

well, i didn't vote before, but I've put mine in as a "no"
KMan had to have voted yes though, you're right about that. I can see the voters. Oooh, so powerful, right.

I'd happily participate if I had the chance to personify a disciple of Nuitari or a wrath-focused priest of Zeboim. As for the gully and the kenderkin in the party OMG, I'd blast the former on sight, preferably from range. The kender would somehow meet her demise when she opened my spellbook, out of curiosity.
I really think that the good aligned characters of Dragonlance are superficial. The evil side, iz good.

Add me to the list of people who'd love to but simply can't until at least one other game I'm in closes down. It's not a fun list to be on, I'm telling you , but don't let that hold you back in running this. I'll manage.

If I'm running Dragonlance, it's not for a pack of kender, gully dwarves, and gnomes.
Though that might be an interesting Short someday, as an aside. But not campaign material for me, I'm afraid. The 'comedy' races will be limited.

Hey, I read my Dragonlance too, and if i remember correctly A batallion of Gully dwarves played an integral role during a battle in the twins trilogy.
