Hey guys and gals, Its now my turn to have a life change. No I'm not getting married, no I'm not buing another house, no I'm not buying a business, no I haven't won the lotto. I am, in fact, being laid off from my job.
Turns out they want the whole operation in New Jersey, so they fire us here and re-hire other folks in NJ. If anyone in that area is interested, be on the lookout for new jobs at a major cable corporation.
What this means on KMans is that there's a good chance I'll be posting even less than now as management demands more of my time in the final days with my company. My final day is slated for December 12, though that's subject to change as the business needs dictate.
Now, before any of you rush over to the reply button and get to typing pity replies, save yourself those prticular words. This is in all actuality a good thing. I may not be very financially secure, but this does open a floodgate of opportunity that I've been denying myself being stuck in this office. They're actually doing us a favor (in a roundabout way) by giving us the opportunity to move on from this less than plesant job. In short "Don't cry for me Argentina" all will be well.

Kudos to your positive outlook, Japic, and best of luck wrapping things up/finding new employment (the latter being no easy task given the economy... at least where I live).

WOOHOO! Severance Package! I know I was looking forward to that opportunity a few years back, during our merger here. The package was GREAT, for those being laid off, as it allowed the funds for new opportunities, like you expressed. I hope that they take care of you when you are indeed let go, and that whatever course you take, is a good one.
Congrats?

Overall the severance is not as great as we'd hoped to get, but things are still going to work out ok.
I jsut wanted to drop in on this thread again and mention that Udjat and I got to talking at teh wedding and I was cursing my lack of posting time. This led to a relevation that I thought I'd share with you, as I did with Udjat on Friday.
With myjob going away... and me not going straight into another position... I'll technically have lots of posting time. As such I was thinking of running a game again. Nothing huge for a starter, but maybe I'll kick Gladiators R Us in the drawers and we can kill some more stuff. It's my opportunity to contribute the the community again in a small way.
So any players in the game, look for more information as the job winds down, any players not in the game, please consider looking into it. I'll do the best I can when my time clears up.
Oh, and I suppose I should mention too, that as of last Friday, I'm also an uncle again. My neice (Thea Victoria) was born and is healthy and doing well, just a little small. Good times all around.

Langley is all ready to kick in some more teeth in the arena!
And congrats on the niece, as I told you before (I think). You're so lucky your siblings have the sense to name children decent things. My last nephew was named Theodin--yes, after Lord of the Rings. And the one before that? Xerxes.
Sigh. Idiot brothers.

You want to talk about poor names? I have a niece called Sailor Moon, yes after the anime, and another Violet Sky, while Violet isn't too bad it took alot of haggling to keep it away from being something Raver

Wow, and I thought my name was bad. . .
Well Japic, good luck in your next endeavor, whatever that may be. And yeah, definately try to do some more posting around here. I think people are more likely to post when they see that there's lots of other activity taking place. No one wants to feel like the only one.
