Everyone-The Inspector calms down somewhat at Grey’s words, nodding mildly with what he says, though he is clearly displeased. Tommy’s words incite a glare from Barrington, however, and for a moment it seems like he is prepared to chastise the group again—but he doesn’t. Instead, the inspector merely frowns in silence, thinking carefully over what’s been said. A good sign.
At length, he exhales heavily. “There are still the trucks, yes,” he admits. “I would have preferred to catch some link to the cult before they go about whatever it is they’re planning, but there is still that lead, provided they don’t cancel their activities due to your snooping around. We shall have to hope for their arrogance.” He glances at Tommy, frowning even deeper. “I find your suspicions of the Penhew Foundation rather suspect, but I will give them due consideration. What’s this you say about unregistered objects being shipped out of the country?” Provided the group tells about the Limehouse Docks, the inspector notes it down on his pad of paper, resolving to look into it. But he does not seem to think there is a lot of room to suspect a connection. “Though Tewfik did work for the foundation from time to time,” he admits.
In the end, Barrington closes his pad of paper and gives each member of the group a hard look. “Lt. Poole was right—you lot do turn up results, though I can’t say I necessarily favor your methods. We will stake out these trucks you discovered, tail them on the night of the New Moon, as you suggest, two days from now. And though I have my reservations, I want all of you along for the assignment. You know what to look for, after all.” “I will go with you, along with another couple of chaps. We can’t take too many, or they’re likely to be suspicious, but I will keep everyone on standby, waiting for a call for reinforcements. When we know where these men are going, we can call everyone in, and take them down once and for all.” [Reactions/replies can go here.] Having not much else to say on the matter, Inspector Barrington is ready to dismiss the group. “We will meet Thursday at noon to finish our planning, and go about tailing these suspects. Spend the days until then however you like, but I would advise discretion. You don’t want to tip the suspects off to the fact that we’re onto them—any more than you already have, I mean.” He scowls briefly.“Do be careful.” [You guys have all of Tuesday/Wednesday to fill. Anything to do after the meeting with Barrington?] List of clues (Updated at long last!)

{OOC: I think what we really need is not a list of clues so much as a difinitive list of 'plot moves forward when you do this'. I feel quite a dunce for not being able to keep all the facts straight in my mind.} Glad to not be leaving the room in handcuffs Thurman gives the inspector a handshake and a nod of appreciation before leaving the office. When away Thurman speaks to the others. "Look like all we need to do is sit tight and wait. I too have fears of driving the bad folks away from their regular plans. Unless you've got another lead to follow that isn't directly tied to the local happenings, I suggest we hole up and wait." Idly he goes over what he can remember of the case and tries to ascertain if there were things yet to be done more closely related to their original mission here.

Grey smiled and nodded modestly and gratefully upon hearing the Inspector's words, for he was content with the result of this meeting. He was quite positive that with Barrington's assent to follow the trucks' lead, whatever dark cult was at work here, would soon be uncovered. When he rose to shake the Inspector's hand, he took it firmly with both hands and pressed upon his heart the following ernest words: "Inspector, you are a brave man, and though I was not in New York as were my friends, I would implore you to be very well prepared next Thursday. Do keep your reinforcements close, for your sake and ours."
He concluded with a simple and friendly "Much obliged!" and left with the others. When again in privacy with his fellow investigators, he said: "Fellow gentlemen, we have to days to spare before Hell will break loose. I wish to inform you that, if you deem it wise, I can contact both a private investigator in Shanghai, whose address I have obtained through the Society, to do some pre-emptive research into the shipping and our other leads there, nothing too daring mind you; and I can still attempt to reach Dr. Henry Clive, who is currently on expedition in Egypt for the Penhew Foundation, of course bypassing mr. Gavigan for as long as he remains a suspect to us."
Having said his piece, colonel Grey awaited an answer.8

[Well I'm still waiting for confirmation to proceed with Clive and the investigator in Shanghai.]

[Well I'm still waiting for confirmation to proceed with Clive and the investigator in Shanghai.] I'm a little leery about this, since it's impossible to know who sees communications like this (telegrams). Besides, the investigator would be a stranger to us and our ways. Seems more like we should be the investigator when we arrive, instead of this dude (who could be damn sloppy or bad for our health) in our place. No telling what could happen. If we go dropping the wrong names to the wrong people, we may well end up in a shallow grave.

[Sorry for the long wait for the post, I'm taking today to catch up on all of the games]
Satisfied that the inspector will help them, Tommy wishes him good luck, "We'll meet back up with you Thursday evening to tail the truck, and please keep any Egyptians out of the group that you pick to help us."
Without further questions, Tommy moves on to the next point that Grey brings up, Shang Hai. "No," he answers flatly, "Not to be rude, but I won't have any more involvement with the Foundation than we already do, and I don't trust any two-bit investigator that they might use, all we could really send for them is to have them locate Ho-Fong Shipping and the Stumbling Tiger Bar for us, and I'm sure we can easily do that ourselves when we arrive. Let's just wait it out, we can take care of that after we finish up this business here."
With nothing else to do for the next two days, Tommy takes to examining the Knife and the mysterious vials and their contents, cross-referencing them to the books that they have picked up along the way and picking at the other men's brains for possible uses, although he is pretty sure the knife is just for sacrifices, and he keeps it close to his person. Not know which books to look at, he pokes through them all, skimming them all. "This sure was a lot easier when Rebecca was around."8

[FYI: The Shanghai PI is not associated with the Penhew Foundation, rather with someone of the National Geographical Society, of which Grey is a member. The man that is associated with the Penhew foundation is dr. Henry Clive, whose digging for them in Egypt. I'm quite sure that sooner or later, it will be useful to visit/contact him, and with communications with desert expeditions being rather slow, we might better act on it sooner rather than late. The Shanghai connection may not be a good idea, but I think sending Clive a letter is. But Grey will refrain from it if everyone still objects wholeheartedly.]
