With TZS having closed Kman's games, the boards are looking suddenly very small, perhaps as small as when I first got here. Of course, that also means it's not impossible to grow again.
With Kman going, we're going to need to find out how we're going to deal with certain things, I think. For instance, whose to be the one responsible for the tasks that Kman did before? I guess Kman must be the one to transfer his admin powers to someone, so let's talk about it. Of course we already have TZS and Japic as global moderators, but I think clarity in everything will make the entire process go much more smoothly. I hope Kman or one of the moderators will step up to lead the process and keep us informed on all this.
And other things may be discussed (once again), like trying to attract new, dedicated people. Perhaps leaving a few links to these boards here and there, etc., might help.

Hehe, I was going to wait another couple of days before raising this same point, but it's well-addressed now anyway. Before we get into the task of trying to attract new players, I think it's probably smart to focus on reorganizing what we've got, and to continue our efforts to keep up activity with those of us still here. I feel we're on the right track to do all of that, I just don't want to get carried away with advertising and outreach, especially if we can't handle an influx of people just yet. The issue of administrator is probably the biggest thing to address. Who's going to do the tasks KMan took care of? Now, we've got two global moderators: Japic and TZS. They are obvious choices. But Japic has a pretty busy schedule himself, as does TZS at times, and we have no word on whether either of them want the job of running the boards. Nothing to that effect was said in the last thread. It would probably help if they chimed in on this at some point. So, if not one of them, then who? I know Vemu and I have both volunteered for the job, and I stand by that. I think we both have the enthusiasm and energy to at least help run things around here, and I'm certain we both have some novel ideas for the future. ...Maybe we should both do it. We disagree enough that we could probably keep each other in check, haha.

I think that might just be a good idea, a couple more global admin to keep things running smoothly, readjust the new games, or go back and finish a few of the older ones, but with a more set playerbase. Before we get too ahead of ourselves here we do need to make sure there is a need for more of one or the other...
How many players want to be in more games? or have time for it?
Do we have a DM who has a game idea in his head that he absolutely MUST create and need players willing and able to work in his twisted world?
What we have right now is working, and seems to work well, a few well maintained games, players who have time to post, and dms who arn't swamped. Before we expand beyond what we are, find out if we need to yet, or if waiting would be a better option. It truelly seems as though our biggest problem has been too many of one or the other, Games players feel are too good to miss so they join, then get so busy they cant keep up with all their games... or games without enough players because our playerbase was in need of expanding. Through in busy dms and both situations only get worse. Find out who is open and available for both options and lets start from there.

Again, not to seem like an "elitist" or anything, but we don't want EVERYONE to have access to admin functions on the site. It wouldn't look right considering that we only have a handful of actives. There's really nothing drastic which has to get done and each DM has access to his/her own board already.
KMan would ultimately have to do the switching, as the Global Moderator does not have the capability to select roles such as "DM" or Admin" or Global Moderator" for people and KMan is still the acting admin.
I've been away for a little bit because I've been exhausted and out of energy in Real life, but like I said, I have no intentions of leaving the site.
I'd be happy to take on the admin position with theudjat as moderator, or even vice versa, but ultimately KMan has to come back here and make those changes for us. It's really out of my hands right now.

Just popping in here;
I think there can be only one admin per Proboards site. Someone will have to have my name and password so they can make changes. I looked, I can't elevate someone to my level. I may have to research this on the Proboards support forums, but so far it looks like one true admin per boards.
I don't care who it goes to, but in the interest of being safe, I prefer it goes to one person and not beyond that.

Give it to Shakes. She's on here regularly enough, and I think she has a handle of whether she needs another global moderator or not. No need to go researching to Proboards over this. Whether you like it or not, you're still dictator for life, I guess.

Yep, I don't think we should have that many staff, I just hope that we get a good replacement for Kman, that all this is handled smoothly and openly, and that whoever does it will try to bring new life to Kman's. Anyone willing to do that can be that, as will is probably the most important requirement here. So Kman, give it to whomever wants it.

KMan, I'm cool with acting as you for the sole purpose of "admin only" type stuff as far as the site is concerned. I haven't erased the boards yet, except for that one time I almost did by accident And then Japic will have Udjat and Vemu fight it out in the arena to see who's the next moderator and we'll be all set.

Lol, I can see Udjat and me battling it out in the arena with our moderator powers. I lower his post count, he kicks me, I turn his gender into female, he deletes my last action post, I ban him, blood everywhere!
But as it stands, I said I'd step up as staff member should there somehow turn out to be a real shortage of volunteers, so since that's not the case, I'd be happy to simply continue contributing through stupid posts like this.

Hilarious image, Vemu. Although maybe we should have a Wanderer vs. Gildas battle in the arena, just for the hell of it one of these days. We know those two want to go at each other's throats. And since I've been talking to KMan about taking over GFYD, I'll have to make him and NPC anyway, and at that point who knows what'll happen to the dude! I'll take the Moderator spot, sure. Eager to help keep KMan's in tip-top shape. And I've got to set up some stuff for Ars Magica, anyway.

Sounds like a challenge! Though I fear that with your rage ability, I may just get knocked out again in one simple blow, like last time. But yeah, though I don't think it has to be fought out at this moment, it's a good idea for the future!
