List of Players (In no particular order)
Heroic: - Bad* - Vemukhaham - Yakumo - TheZebraShakes - Deekin - at - Menatkhufu
- Jolith
- Rojito (may join later)
Villainous: - Rojito - Menatkhufu - Jolith Cancelled.
I don’t think this game needs a lot of preamble, so I’ll just get right to the point.
Seeking a whole bunch of players for two Dragonlance campaigns, both set during the War of the Lance. One is Heroic, one is Villainous. These will be story-heavy campaigns confronting epic, world-changing issues. I may fudge rules in favor of mood and good plot on occasion. Encounters will not always be fair and appropriate for one's level, and fighting will not always be the way to win.
For the Heroic Campaign (Chronicles of the Lance), I am seeking up to 8 players. Preference will be given to people who have not played in the Dragonlance setting before, those with less characters on the boards, and those who voted in the polls. If you don’t make it in, don’t worry—there is plenty of room to add characters later; I will, in fact, be making successive calls for new players as the campaign wears on.
For the Villainous Campaign (Wing of Darkness), I am seeking 4-5 players. Yes, that’s a small window. If you are new to Dragonlance, don’t join this campaign. It’ll ruin lots of the fun. If you join the Villainous Campaign you can still join the Heroic Campaign, but preference will be given for those who are only looking to join the Heroic Campaign.
For those of you that are reading this post and saying ‘Damn, that’s cool! I really wish I could join, but I just don’t have time! I wish there was something I could do…’ There is! For people not wanting/able to play, I’m looking for a group of people to help me add some twists and unexpected turns to the traditional War of the Lance campaign—replacing NPCs, changing up magic items or the layout of ruins, and other little things. I don’t expect there to be a lot of things changing as the campaign will still be largely the same, but I want this to be interesting even for those that have read and played the War of the Lance before. So if you’d like to be a part of that, let me know.
As you can see, there is tons of stuff to get onboard with this. For those looking to play, let me take a moment to reiterate KMan’s traditional message on new games:
For non-players looking to conspire, you can obviously come and go as you please.
And finally, KMan’s scientifically proven way to gain new players… huge freakin’ letters:
CALLING ALL PLAYERS!!!

I am in on both if i can. before i start building my character ideals i would like to know some of the restrictions for Krynn, and Level basis. I know there are multiple races unique to Krynn, but what about prestige classes? or will they just fit in with the flavor of Krynn? And what will be the begining level for both games, and prospective ending level for them.

I've read war of the lance, but that was like 6 years ago, so I'll do the hero game. Can we get some build guides?

I'm in the Hero Campaign! I've always wanted to be a pally in a classic game of heroes, and here's my chance! But hey, I might still switch as there's several other ideas still pulling at my poor brain...

ooo can i have the Raistlin basic? i have a slightly evilish mage idea i want to play and this might be the best way to do it. And insulting the base mortal who challenged the gods themselves and won is always fun!

By the way, I'm thinking paladin is not right for my character idea, perhaps something like a knight might be best, and since I heard there might be some interesting knightly orders in Dragonlance, I'd like to learn a bit about them, if possible. But I won't clutter up this Call for Players thread with it any further, just wanted to give a heads-up that information about those would be welcome.

hmmmmm, I might be interested, though I'm not sure what campaign to participate in. I've never actually played in the Dragonlance setting, but I've read a ton of the books. I'm still reading them, the Lost Chronicles now.
I'd be interested in villains, but I'm not sure if that would be worth while, especially considering that you said that it's probably not a good idea for those who haven't actually been introduced to the setting as it applies to the RPG rather than the books.
I'd play heroic, especially since I'm way into stories and attempting to participate in them as best I can, and Vemu + Yakumo are pretty great to have around in terms of PC interaction which I am also a huge fan of.
But I know that it's still the weekend and not everyone has gotten a chance to respond who would like to play, so for now I'll tentatively go heroic if that's not a problem. I really don't want to spread myself too thin by getting involved in both games, It would cause my posts to suffer I would think.

Yeah, definitely put me into the Heroic campaign and not the villainous as much as I like the idea of being evil, I feel like I would have to refamiliarize myself with the whole setting which would take some of the fun out of a retelling of the story. I am right now unsure of what sort of character I'd like the play. I don't really have the source book/s so I'm not sure if they have different classes and what have you. I'm thinking of playing a Gnome (since you hate the Gully Dwarf ) , and yes I know you don't particularly like them either, but I think it might give you another avenue to work with for your campaign and Gnomes are the least useless and difficult to work with out of the 'comedy' (as you put it) races. Does DL have some sort of special classes for them? Also, Thanks shakes, I didn't realize the effort I put into most of my posts was noticed at all, I certainly appreciate it and I'll make sure that they stay up to par for this game too.

I’d like to join Chronicles of the Lance as I’ve never played Dragonlance nor ready any of the novels (sad, isn’t it?).
I know there are quite a few other players who will get spots before me (I didn’t participate in either discussion), but I see TheUdjat is looking for an army of players. Count me in if there’s room!

I think we're only allowed one gnome per game Well we'll see I have not even the vaguest idea of that I'd like to do. I just like trying interesting things.

I'll put up some general information about Ansalon in the Age of Despair to help you guys out with concepts--but I'm still holding off on precise character creation stuff for a little bit. Remember that this sign-up is not first come first serve. There also seems to be some possibility that the Villainous campaign won't happen, which will change my planning somewhat. If there's not sufficient interest, that's cool--less work for me. And yes, Bad*, I do need an army of players. Even beyond the initial 4-8 players, the campaign systematically adds in several NPCs-turned-PCs which people will have the option of playing. You have no need to fear, though--as someone who has not read/played any Dragonlance, you get bumped to the top of the list (along with Vemu, I think?) ...Gnomes. I will tell you all this, straight-out: it will take some crafty background-writing to play certain races from the get-go: Elves, Mountain Dwarves, and Gnomes are all difficult to play due to extremely isolationist cultures at this period of time. You'll see what I mean. But my general caution for Gnomes/Kenders is that they can be played in an annoying capacity and a non-annoying capacity. If done right, I'm perfectly fine with them. However, I tend to see more of the former than the latter, as everyone tries to be Tasslehoff Burrfoot or Gnosh. In a situation where multiple people want to play a race that is limited (Kender, Gnome for instance), I'll take what I see as the best concept for the campaign, based on what plots I can tie to it and how well I feel it fits into the setting. If you try for a Gnome and are rejected, you can still play something else, of course.

Never touched a dragonlance product in my life, nope. And thanks, TZS, I was hoping also that you would try to join this campaign; the more interaction, the better! And I believe so far there have been none of our characters meeting in any game, though we both play in quite some games. Anyway, I'm getting more interested every minute. Hope you get that background info up soon, Udjat.

I could easily turn my character into a human without much problem, its just i liked the idea of Raistlin concept as a Gnome, you know a Red Robe who eventually turns much more toward the Black, but whom still helps the good guys

but whom still helps the good guys Raistlin lol'd. ^^ Anyway, I want to participate if the Evil Campaign happens. If it doesn't, and you still have place for 1 more, I can join the Heroic Campaign. (Aye, I'm a fan, Udjat .) In the meanwhile, Vemu will bomb my house because I still havent finished the background to my Rinasc char. Dont hate me Vemu.

LOL. I'll try to find a more creative way to get you to finish that character, but yes, I'm not excluding any course of action in advance. I did indeed plant a bomb beneath your house during my visit in Istanbul. There's still some days left on the timer, but I'll not switch it off until...

Setting information is up. Remember, they are not character creation rules! Those come later. But it should help you guys figure out the setting some more and which concepts are viable.
