KMan this is not to bust your chops or be a problem, but I am looking for a clarification for my own mind. So I know what to expect in the future.
I have a question about the spell prestidigitation. If I have already cast the spell, how much effort, energy and/or time do I need to do something with it?
Example: in our current game we are involved in combat with Orcs. I rush into battle and tell the GM that I would like my sword appear to be on fire. He tells me that I don't have the time to do it. Here is where I get confused.
To me this would seem a minor illusion, nothing big or spectacular. I have always magined that the spell cast by a sorcerer doesn't really need much effort to create a minor effect. Basically I think or will the spell to do it, and it does. Not that there was any additional gesturing or chanting or whatever to take more time.
So, for those of you who are much more book savvy than I: What are your opinions?

Japic, I just got around to reading the description of Pres and you know what? The effects last for an hour!! Holy crap, these books are full of all sorts of rules!! Think of what this could do for the game!! Order could be restored! Chaos' reign could end!! Players can have their Prestidigitation effects happen instantly... cause the DM finally read the rules...Sorry maynard, fixed most recent game post. I apologize for not reading on it before making a ruling...

It's like finding instructions to programming a VCR! The game will be revolutionized! Why, the standardization made possible by widely distributed rulebooks could allow people to play ONLINE! Who would have thought?!
