Yah, we're hoping to go when it's in town, but we'll see how that works out. I know that it's been sold out for the last few weeks and some folks are having trouble getting in there to see it.
Time will tell...

Cool!!! Looks like it's in Houston and for a while. Good thing, as my little sister is into morbid stuff, so when I have her for a week or two in summer, I know where to take her! Thanks KMAN!!!
Although, I have to wonder, what the real difference is between 1, 2, and 3. That horse is freaking awesome!!!

I can' tvouch for what sort of differences you'll see between ech, but before looking at that site, I hadn't heard about a whole horse. They've been talking about it for weeks here and if we had one, they would have mentioned it. I'm guessingthat there are some key things that each one has, then a smattering of different stuff based on the specimins available.
Well, after you've seen it, maybe we can all compare notes to see what each one has.

Ok...am back and got the report.
Overall, the exhibit is great, but what makes it great is that its not really science but artwork.
They guy that plastinates the bodies and lays them out has a little placard at the base of each one with his signature, like each one is a painting or something. If they were just bodies all splayed open and boring, this exhibit would suck, but each body is in a pose like "The Ponderer" (Similar to 'The Thinker') and the skier, the skateboarder etc. Each body is really a sculpture, not a scientific display...but the they are really a great hybrid of the two.
For those of you that have ever seen 'The Cell' with Jennifer Lopez where that horse gets dissected into slivers and layed open...it's alot like that. In fact, there is a body they cut into 14 pieces from head to toe and displayed about a foot apart from each other. There is one lady where her legs are crossed and her face is peeled open like a book, all the way to her brains and eyes...totally cool looking.
Of course, there are the organs; lungs from a coal miner and smoker, the cross-section of an obese person vs a slim person, aortas, spleens...even fetuses at various stages of development. Some of the bodies have skin left, some have eyelashes, others have tidbits of hair, all of them have sex organs--it truly is unique.
So in short, go see it if it comes near you. As for the Denver crowd, it was selling out, but they allow groups of 15-30 to enter ever 15 minutes and they stay open for nearly 12 hours...you do the math. Show up early and you'll be in in no time. It's also here until like mid-July, the hype will die down eventually.
EDIT: Yeah, no horse here in Denver, but we do have a camel! If you want to see all the sculptures, I suggest picking up the book for ~$25 at the end of the exhibit. It has detailed pics of all specimens.

Good stuff. That exhibit kind of put my mum off donating her body to medical science. That and the tales my cousin told us up in medical school ;D

What to do to miss a day of work, eh? Seriously, this look like a great exhibition. I doubt it'll ever come here in Quebec though.
