Character description:
Unbeknownst to him Ism was once the cause of huge uproar in the Abyss. He was the secret progeny begot of the succubus Am’anis whimsical dalliance with a mortal.
Am’ani attempted to hide Ism from her oft absent Glabrezu master/lover, Alm’ism’bathrenu. But word quickly got to him of Isms birth. Alm’ism’bathrenu came to Am’ani in a jealous fury, he devoured Isms father cast the child from the Abyss and Am’ani had to beg to only be placed in a prison of perpetual torture for her indiscretion.
Luck shined on the babe Ism on his emergence to the mortal world. He was found by a kindly cattle herder who despite Isms unusual look took in the exposed child and with his wife brought him up as their own.
Although kindly Isms new parents did have problems of their own. Driven from their own lands by larger, more advanced tribes they had been forced to resettle in a valley that most avoided. The Ism family struggled in the valley. There were scarce resources in the valley and their cattle struggled. Over time however they realized why it has uninhabited. As they explored the valley the Isms and the few other desperate residents of the valley discovered an ancient burial site. Soon after discovering the site the settlers started being visited by ghostly beings. Some of the bodies of the ancients themselves seemed to come to life and pester the settlers.
Isms mother, terrified, became a recluse. Refusing to leave their shack. Isms father along with the small number of other settlers in the valley tried to carry on. The strange undead spirits in the vicinity of the burial site eventually sent the herders mad. The only sane living beings in the valley ended up being advanticious bandits. Shunned by his mother and unrecognized by his father Ism became a bandit too. Coming of age now Isms heritage was starting to show. Vestigal horns on his head were becoming more prominent, he was starting to grow a quite extensive reptilian tail. However his demonic heritage also made him quite a useful person to the desperate bandits of the area who overlooked his differences.
Ism remained a wild and desperate bandit of unusual origin for several years. The group of bandits he was with became dominant enough to get the best pickings of any traffic through the area. Although only the foolish and the odd adventurer venturede into the valley there was quite a bit of traffic past the mouth of the valley and it was that way that the group gained their wealth.
One day they intercepted a wagon making its way into the valley. The leader of the caravan was a quite lucid holy man. He turned out to be a cleric of Olidammara who had hired the wagon in a determined mission to investigate the undead presence further into the valley. Through quick talking the cleric managed to make a deal with the bandits to try to help against the undead presence. Ism was enthralled by the man. He had persuaded a strong group of badits to not kill and rob him and had powers agsinst undead. The beings that maybe still tormented his parents lives.
Ism sought to learn as much as he could from the cleric who claimed that he could channel the power of the gods to destroy undead. If he could become devote enough to destroy the creatures of the valley maybe it would not be too late to bring peace to the valley.
The cleric taught Ism many powers. As a culmination to his training and as acceptance to the church of Olidammara Ism has been sent to a more civilized town outside the valley to meet with the clerics superiors.
