A recently taken undated hand out photograph received on January 25, 2004 shows a fake baby dragon encased in a 30 inch (0.76 metres) jar which was discovered by David Hart in a garage in Oxfordshire, southern England. A metal tin found alongside the dragon contained paperwork written in an old-fashioned German style of the 1890s, a time when their was intense rivalry between Britain's and Germany's scientists. The documents suggest that Britain's Natural History Museum turned the dragon away and sent it to be destroyed, only for the jar to be intercepted by David Hart's grandfather, Frederick Hart, who worked as a porter. Ok, wait. I'm slightly confused. This fake dragon was created by somsone, and sent to rival scientists, or a museum, but instead a porter stole it, and it's been hanging out in his garage forever?
If that's the case.... why was the 'dragon' made at all? What's the point?

The way I imagine it, there's a rivalry between scientists. One side "creates" this fake dragon sends it to the other scientists in hopes that they make a statement that it's real...
Then the creating team comes out an discredits the rival scientists.
But instead the rival scientists said.."Fuck this, My kid makes cooler stuff out of popsicles sticks." Sends it to be destroyed and the porter intercepts it, deciding to keep it cause it looks cool.
Either way, I thought it was a neat piece of history.

Aah. That would make sense then. I think it's cool.
The question for me at this point is how was it created? Did they make it out of rubber... or mismatched parts from real amimals.... or did they genetically engineer it? The latter is pretty un-probable, but it would be cool.

K-man is righ on this one it is a nasty trend thats science has. While things can be mustual respect there is also a lot of compitition and back stabbing.
