Thank you, Wizard. One of my future CofC plotlines is now slowly taking shape inside my head.

It *is* a good idea. How do you deal with a ghost tied to a machine? Is it malevolent? If so, can you imagine the destruction it could wreak with access to the Internet and a modicum of haxxor skillz? It certainly wouldn't lack for time.
Or perhaps it's a good-natured ghost. Perhaps it's restricted to e-mail. Does it now use serial processing instead of parallel processing to think? That would make for some interesting roleplaying.

One of the things I've always wanted to do in that sorta line of thought is to finally use Yog-Sothoth as the digital entity he's capable of being represented as. Good ol' Fractal Yog Sothoth. Just one idea.
There's lotsa stuff to be done with the online realm that could be very cool for Cthulhu. For some reason, I always find text to be a bit creepier than actual voice interaction. One tempting idea I've had is to actually have an online game set in an online environment, where I can actually PM and post as the various NPCs. Or something like that. But it seems to tricky to get it to work right.

That sounds like a really cool idea, actually. Sort of like LARP, without the creepiness.

I don’t know if any of you are into Anime but there is a great cartoon by the name “The Ghost in the Machine.” It actually was one of the sources of inspiration for the “Matrix” movies and a thought provoking work.

I think there's actually two movies called Ghost in the MachineOne is the thought-provoking Anime that Merv speaks about. The other is a cheesy ass 80's flick where crap like the dishwasher comes to life and spits dishes at ballistic velocity...(Maytag refused to comment on the possibilty of this happening.) I've seen both.

Mero - Are you sure that's not Ghost in the Shell? I've seen that one. Quite cool, and what I'd easily see as a Matrix inspiration.

I think this is what scared me so bad. Maybe I was a bit younger than I remember if it was an 80's flick. And don't listen to Maytag...they're hiding something, I'm sure of it.

Actually, unbeknownst to most people, Maytag was originally a home defense supplier specializing in things like fridgerators that could instantly drop room temperature to -220o Celsius, or sprinklers that shot acid all over the lawn.

I can see some shoddy "repair" shop sitting in the bad part of town..."We FIX dishwashers, dryers, and all manner of home appliances!"
