I've been wrapped up in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for the PS2 lately and the idea of this world is simply fascinating to me.
Those of you that don't know, (This is according to the PS2 version so all you die-hards don't castrate me for messin' it up) basically civilization as we know it stopped at about the mid 1950's.
During the time when nuclear power was appealing and was introduced and widely used....we went too far. War broke out...world-wide nuclear fallout. Those that had the initiative crawled into vaults deep beneath the ground where they survived. Those on the surface either died in the fallout and became sentient ghouls...or became something far worse...
Mutants...
The mutants now wage war on the humans with a hate unrivaled and never witnessed before. They capture humans and force them to mutate in the ambient radioactive lands and force them to join their cause. The ghouls also loathe the survivors...called "Vault-Dwellers" but they still manage trade and interaction with them.
The world is very post-apocalyptic. Guns are in abundance but ammo is rare. Power, vehicles, water...these things are luxury items rarely found our sometimes non-existent. The vault-dwellers are being forced to the surface out of lack of water and other necessary supplies.
This is where you find yourself, a vault-dweller that recently came to the surface.
Anyways...it's an awesome game. I'm curious if anyone has seen role-playing related materials for this. I'm interested in running something like this at home with dice and paper. Or online if I get enough research into it.
Anyone?
