"Well, if there are people looking for me, than you should not let me go unescorted. After all, there might be a reward which you can claim. And besides, it's a long walk, I wouldn't want to make it alone."
"I'll wait here, that way, if you kill Crooknek then you can come back for me, and if Crooknek kills you, I can tell him that I knew that he could handle things and I lead you all straight to him. Either way should do well to keep me alive, wouldn't you think?"
Kinfeld is resigned to wait in the room while the adventurers continue their exploration of the caverns.

The group moves out, past the unconscious kobllds and into a dark and dusty hall.
They pass the intersection from before and continue heading north this time.
Taking point, Sar stops every so often to check for traps.

The scout halts in his tracks as something catches his eye on the ground. A bit of dust out of place, a slab of stone which attempts to blend in but somehow can't quite do it.
Sar thinks he has found the makings of a mechanical pit trap. A sneaky and camouflaged one where the floor is meant to slide right out from under one's feet while in the midst of walking.[rand=534826749027058605552729553061014125673488082163279903605018223638]

"Hey, Sar, why'd ya stop all of a sudden? I don't see anything here, and we've got to hurry up if we want to be able to make an 'impression' on this Crooknek thing."

"Pit trap. Pretty well-done one, too. Give me a minute or two." Sar takes out a few slim peices of iron and pounds them into the edges of the mechanism with a ballpeen hammer, trying to jam the smoothly articulated peices that allow the floor to slide. [dice=20]+4 The peices of iron bite in deep, and Sar is fairly confident that he's done the job right.[rand=85991128101721642949595793903766739010799738092145542688279828]

Pandoro flexes his left tricept and scratches his nose while Sar disables the trap.
ooc: Should we really continue without resting? Everyone is injured and we maybe have 2 potions of CLW at the most. How about we take the wizard back to town, rest a couple of days and then return?

[ooc: That is a sound idea. That's what I was thinking when I initially suggested bringing him out. Thanks for bringing it up, I probably wouldn't have. ]

Refusing to fall victim by the DM's "If you're not dying you're not trying," philosophy, some of the adventurers wish to leave the caverns.
Now, these are after all unseasoned adventurers, unschooled in the way of the one shot dungeon crawl. They may not know that leaving the caverns would bring about the end of the adventure.
Should they dare return, they risk finding nothing where a slew of kobolds once resided. Though they may also find that re-enforcements were brought in. Every kobold previously killed is another kobold respawned, and the battles will commence all over again.
Now, our heroes have with them one potion of CLW and a few helpful scrolls, a tanglefoot bag, some other looted items, and a magical ring which no one has dared to place upon his finger.
Crooknek is close by and the gods only know what else may lurk deeper within the darkened corridors.
-Will they call it quits
-or will they press on and find out

"There. That ought to take care of..." A rat that had been watching Sar disarm the trap with its disturbingly beady eyes makes a sudden movement, leaps, and jumps on Sar's hand. Fearing a bite, the scout tries his best to shake the filthy rodent off...then he stops, his face a study in puzzlement. The rat slips off his hand, something glinting in its teeth, and Sar looks at his fingers dumbfoundedly for a moment before his face twists with anger and he starts to run down the corridor- but the rodent is already gone. "Wuh... buh...sxprl...MY WEDDING RING! Sandra's going to kill me if we can't get it back! Ordinary rodents don't have a yin for gold. Why, that must have been that Badman person's familiar, spying on us and looking to steal our valuables! We can't leave now, guys- forward we go!"

"Hey, come back, little sneaker!" Balen makes a grab for the rodent, to no avail. "Bah! Hey, Sar, if it'll keep you out of trouble, try out this nice jeweled ring we horked off that skeleton. I am 64% sure it doesn't carry a baleful enchantment. Of course, I just swing an axe around, so what do I know. Anyway, onwards!"

Shaking his head at Sar, "Ooo boy, I remember the last time Sandra got mad at you. It wasn't pretty. Did you ever manage to remove that *cough* from your *ahem*? We better track down that rat quick."

"Huh. Well, even if it won't fool Sandra, I might as well try it on." Sar slips the ring onto his finger.
