Our brave adventurers press on.
They make their way up a dark staircase and find themselves in a chamber of worked stone.
The room looks as though it was meant to be the final resting place for some important people, most likely the leaders of this clan which most likely used these caverns long ago.
There are many runes and scripts of ancient texts carved within the walls and upon the sarcophagi. There are also a few discoveries, a decayed trinket here and there, a wooden box containing a golden token.
There are no doors or hidden passages in this room besides the entrance used by the five.
Backtracking, the secret door in the southern portion of the large room where the last fight took place, our noble band of heroes find themselves headed down another darkened corridor.
Here they find a chamber in shambles. There are more coffins here, dust and debris litter the floor.
It looks as though no one has been in here for quite some time.
The adventurers set to work looking around as adventurers tend to do.
There are no other exits, secret or revealed, in this room.
Examining coffins, milling about, it proves to be too much for the room to handle.
Somewhere something snaps out of place and all hell breaks loose as the room begins to collapse in upon itself.
Rocks, dirt, and dust fall at an alarming pace, threatening to bury our heroes alive.
The corridor begins to collapse as well, and the intrepid band is forced to flee lest they wish to meet an untimely end.
The stone ceiling in the room where the sarcophagi and three dead bodies lay begins to crack and fall as well.
Rushing through the secret door, the adventurers retrace their steps and find that they are safe and sound in Crooknek's former lair.
It would seem that the five have found their way through the entity of the caverns.
They move along with any goods and treasures collected, back through the darkened tunnels.
All is quiet now, save the scurrying of rats and fluttering of bats.
The place seems to have been cleared out, the kobolds no doubt leaving along with, or in the absence of their leader.
With their mission accomplished, our adventurers head out of the caverns and back up the ravine along the narrow path.
After a bit of traveling, they meet back up with Strom, the two merchant brothers, and the alchemist/inventor Elmont Kinfeld.
After a few days, the party reaches the Capital City.
The merchant brothers are returned to their home and the family rewards the courageous heroes with a grand feast and a pouch of gold for each.
Kinfeld's return comes with great relief on the part of the Kingdom. A message is immediately sent to the inventor's home kingdom proclaiming that the inventor has been found safe and sound and will be returned with haste.
It is clear that the actions of the young adventurers have removed strife and prevented a war.
For this, they are rewarded with an even grander feast and an even heavier pouch of gold.
Though after a night at the tavern the weight of gold should not be an issue.
(Thanks everyone for sticking around, and/or helping out in the final fight, and/or reading along at home.)
