As I've decided to go cycling down the Rhine (a big river running from Swiss into the North Sea) soon, I'll be without internet access from august 22 untill 31. I hope to see much beautiful nature and weather as I go along, many fabulous ruins of castles and monasteries and the like, and travel through cities like Cologne, Koblenz, Mainz, Worms, Karlsruhe, Strasbourg, and, my final destination, Freiburg. Yes, that's Freiburg, that same place where right now Elric is getting chased by guards, Rupert is getting manipulated by a (?)wizard, etc. So don't be surprised if, as you continue playing the game, I will drop into the story suddenly. And surely, I'm going to check out the Kaiserstuhl nearby as well if I can.

www.wikipedia.cöm -> freiburg Hmm, lets learn. The Oberbürgermeister, Dr. Dieter Salomon, (elected in as of 2002), is the only member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen who holds such an office in a city with more than 100,000 inhabitants. However, his deputy, Otto Neideck, is a member of the conservative party, the CDU. Well, no info about old, manipulative wizards though. =) I'm again jealous about your nice trips. Have fun, these places look beautiful.

So. Jealous. That trip sounds awesome! And come on, man. I'm American, I get it, but I know what the freaking Rhine is. YOU MUST TAKE PICTURES. Especially of Freiburg and the Kaiserstuhl, if you drop by it.

I was thinking the same thing. Not that I know what a river is exactly, but hey, you win some, you lose some.
I wanna see giant castles and stuff. I think I do at least. It might not be all that cool. Unless you get to go inside of them and hunt for ghosts, now that's an adventure.
Just trying to make myself feel better.
It sounds like a great trip though. I wish I lived in Europe sometimes. Just for the scenery.

Ouch, burned my fingers there! But honestly, I just didn't know for sure if everyone on these boards knew, it wasn't even meant specifically for the Americans. I don't do prejudices like that, or at least, try to avoid them. I think America as a whole is a bit of a mad society, but of course that is only if I disregard every individual American I've ever got to know (and that's you people). You're not arrogant, megalomaniac, hamburger-eating people at all. And surely, I think just as few people in Europe know where the Mississippi runs as there are Americans who know the Rhine. But of course, I guess the roleplaying hobbey attracts people with an open mind, who don't stop caring about things across the ocean. And don't be too jealous. Exploring castles isn't all that much fun anymore, when every castle you come accross is crowded by a thousand other tourists just like you. It scares the ghosts away, and it's hard to imagine them there. This time, to try and solve this problem, I'm taking along a book called Hero Tales and Legends of the Rhine, by Lewis Spence. I'll try to find all the locations of the tales in this book, and imagine there are no tourists and there are only the epic hero Siegfried, or king Richard Coeur de Lion in his prison castle, etc. So you see, don't be too jealous, it's actually hard work, admiring castles nowadays. And I will take pictures, and this time, I WILL post them here.

Ich bin wieder zuruck! That is, I'm back from the wonderfully beautiful country of Germany, the Rhine valley, and I'm quite exhausted as sleeping in a train has never been my forte. As always, I require some rebooting time, so bear with me while I catch up on all the sweetness that has been going on here. And I will endeavour to put up a full summary with pics.
Though my holiday was wonderful, it's good to be back!

Welcome back, Vemu! I think you'll find that it's actually been unusually quiet while you've been away (your absence coincided with Menat and Yakumo both being gone, after all). Hopefully that'll make catch-up a little easier than usual. I look forward to hearing what Freiburg's really like.
