I have been applying for an academic study that takes place in the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, and I have been accepted to participate in it for 3 months.
I will be living in Nijmegen for 3 months onward from March 15th. I have a laptop and they should have free internet connection there, so it should not be a problem for me to post (for the small number of games im in). But I cant say anything for sure until I arrive, so.
This study will be a very nice distraction from my daily routine, and will possibly make a longer stay possible. Nijmegen is the oldest city in the NL, with lots of alternative rock bands originating from it, and %95 of the population is left-winged, so the place quite appeals to me.
Any hints, Joost? =)

You're kidding me, right? Lol, in that case, we can hardly miss each other! Nijmegen feels like a big village, nice and young people and a great atmosphere, so you'll really feel quite comfortable here, I'm sure. And yes, left-wing indeed, the green-leftist party has won local elections only last week. Almost everyone speaks some English. Insofar as it hasn't been bombed during the last war, you'll also find plenty of history here: as you said, the city dates back to at least Roman times. If you're into that, the biggest museum on Nijmegen history is the Valkhof. You probably have already arranged for accommodation? I guess you can do that the easiest way through the university, but I'm just curious where you'll be living. And what will you be studying exactly? Have you got any plans on how to get to know the city when you get here? I could definitely show you around a bit, if you'd like. The campus, city center, pubs/disco's, whatever you prefer. Though it's easiest if you'd somehow be able to get a bike for the time you're here (that's how almost anyone goes around) public transportation between the campus and city center is good too, and you'll get by. But a bike is best! Oh, and don't worry, there's indeed free internet access on the campus, so you won't have to quit this place either. Anyway, you know how to reach me, and if there is anything I can help you with during the next three months, let me know.

I have arrived yesterday in the NL, and I stayed at a friend's place at Rotterdam. Today I arrived at Nijmegen, which I still cannot pronounce properly. =) (I like how your language sounds, I would try to learn it, had I been staying longer.) I just moved to my place, which is located in a short stay housing complex, the Galgenveld SSHN on Prof. Huybersstraat, unpacked my things and stuff.
Nijmegen IS small indeed -when compared to the hurley-burley that is Istanbul, it is a village- but then, it is quite nice at first sight. And silent. I didnt like Rotterdam at all, on the other hand. Maybe it has to do something with the fact that it has been bombed in the WW2.
People are very helpful, usually. I didnt have any difficulty having my questions answered, and even the older people speak fluent English.
I am studying in the Human Genetics Department, in a project about some developmental disease called Walker-Warburg syndrome. The genes underlying this condition has been identified, but in some of the patients, no molecular changes in the structures of those genes have been found. So the aim of the study is to identify new genes or mechanisms responsible for the disease phenotype in those patients. and I will be learning, mostly, since my experience up-to-date is solely clinical. I would be very happy if you showed me around a bit, when/if you have the time. I also want to get a 2nd hand bike so I dont have to take the bus/tram every time, so a hint about where to buy it would be wonderful.
Now, I'll sleep a bit, and investigate the city centre a bit. =)
ps. and oh, thank you Japic =)
