"Get past these things and head upstream," says Vadania. Following her own advice, Vadania tries to knock one side using her club while Ylva tries to trip one into the fast flowing stream. Darrian makes a run for it, recognizing he may be valuable from a distance, but clearly not up close with these skeletons.

Ylva and Vadania knock the remaining two skeletons into the water and the group quickly make their way upstream. More skeletons drop down behind them, crowding the tunnel, but struggle to make progress against the fast flowing water - clawing at the tunnel walls but advancing only slowly.
So long as you do not stand around or step into range, you are safe.
With a moment to look around Darrian realises that this tunnel is of dwarven construction, and far older than the tomb above.
(combat effectively over, the skeletons can advance about 5 feet a round in these conditions)

Vandania returns Darrian's light to him and asks the dwarf, "Do you know which way we're heading compared to the cliff? Are we heading out into the valley? In any case we need to move to get as much of a lead as we can." Vadania keeps a hand on Ylva, to make sure she doesn't get swept away also!
Since the water was draining into cracks below the entrance, Vadania is concerned that the tunnel might be heading out into the valley, under all the gnolls. But she isn't as good as I am keeping directions straight.

Darrian determines that they are headed roughly parallel to the valley wall.
The tunnel is relatively flat and the crypt was set above the valley floor - it is likely that the water flowing into the tunnel is from another hole beneath the water level in the valley itself, and given the rate at which the water is draining into the tunnel one probably not large enough for a person to pass through.

Vadania replies, "Thank Darrian. So at some point we'll pass where the water is flooding in, but not be able to exit. We'll want to be well ahead of the skeletons by then!"

Darrian would explain anything he can about the nature of these ruins (origin as Dwarven, possible relevance, etc.).
[dice=20] + ? = 13+ knowledge check on the ruins
What skill should I apply, or is this a base intelligence check? Or, is a check unnecessary?[rand=622267073020339021032871678471565904860580572858516183778154663742]

What skill should I apply, or is this a base intelligence check? Or, is a check unnecessary? (dungeoneering, architecture, or a suitable craft or profession)The tunnels are so old and worn down Darrian cannot be sure of their original use - perhaps part of a mine, but equally it could have been an escape route or shortcut. Certainly though the tunnel was hand carved and of dwarven construction.

Ka'lion will bring up the rear but he's looking for additional torches. He intends to get his mule and hidden gear once they get back to the top and the further they are headed away from the entrance the further he's going to need to go to retrieve them.

The tunnel soon opens up into what appears to be a old store room, though little remains except rotted wood and what appear to be the iron shodding from long gone wheels.
The room has several exists and glancing through them Darrian begins to get his bearings - it was a mine working of some sort, though this tunnel entrance was an oddity.
A cursory examination reveals more similarly desolate rooms, the source of the water - once an entrance, not seeminly collapsed from outside, a kitchen, a small forge, and the entrance to the mines themselves - the latter heavily barricaded.
It is the forge that interests Darrian the most and he quickly sets about searching it in detail.

"I don't think we can carry that with a bunch of skeletons chasing us and the area full of water." said Ka'lion

"I don't think he has any intention of carrying the forge itself," replied Vadania.
Did the collapsed entrance look like it had passages large enough for those big bats to crawl out of? They had to have had some way to get in and out...

"The bats could of wants down stream." said Ka'lion looking back the way the party came.

"Possibly," agreed Vadania, "but I hope not because I don't want to try getting past all the skeletons coming after us. Besides, the water was heading downhill and we're heading uphill. I don't know tunnels, but this seems to be the right direction. But they may be able to squeeze though a hole that's too small for us."
Besides checking the sealed entrance to see if bats could have been using it, once we get above the water, Vadania will looks for signs that bats fly this way (splats of bat guano from when they were flying by). And she is very much listening for signs that the skeletons are getting close.

Did the collapsed entrance look like it had passages large enough for those big bats to crawl out of? No, but the entance to the mine was barricaded rather than collapsed and the barrier has erroded over time - they could have come from there. The sound of rushing and bubbling water makes it impossible to hear the skeletons from here - but there is only one way in, you could place a guard.

"Has the sun rod and lantern run out of fuel yet. If not let burn some rotted wood that we can and save the rest of the fuel until we really need it." asked Kalion

"Has the sun rod and lantern run out of fuel yet. If not let burn some rotted wood that we can and save the rest of the fuel until we really need it." asked Kalion A single sunrod or pint of oil burns for six hours, a torch or cangle for one hour. Darrian, born within a mountain fortress, points out that burning anything would be unwise without ventilation, and with that in mind checks the forge itself - the chimney appears to be blocked.

"Will that's the way out. Hows it blocked?" asked Ka'lion

Peering up Ka'lion can see a metal grill, but the chimney is blocked beyond that - perhaps by intent or merely by the quakes.
Darrian has found something else however, a small blade of reddish-gold metal ... Gromril?
The delay concerns Vadania as without any obvious escape the skeletons will eventually reach them. The barricade infront of the mines could be cleared with effort but what were the dwarves trying to keep out? At least for now though Vadania can sense no movement beyond.
