Some dice rolls to see what I get for stats... [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =11 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =16 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =11 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =10 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =16 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =8 |
Hmm, two good stats and a lot of mediocre ones...[rand=62348198518157005969111574813723668824410834349699506868596654385]

you can roll a new set and take the better of the two. Also a new thing you can do that i am adding in, you can move a total of two points around to any stat. so you can move one point in something to another stat or any combination there of. but you can only move a total of two points and it is one for one ratio so that math is straight foreword and simple.

Second set of rolls, as directed by DM... [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =13 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =12 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =15 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =11 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =13 | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | [dice=6] | =14 |
Lots of middle rolls, with nothing outstanding. Either set is usable, which is best depends on class. [rand=891134945908561357458175811916595194437201134865124278587754816]

for my game my input would be use the second set and move points around and see what you like.
also you must do that before race is added in if you wish to do so.

It looks fun But I'll be going with a simple one from the PHB myself.

Nothing wrong with going with the original. What are you thinking of playing?

I'm trying to decide between 3) - Half-Orc barbarian based on the Epic Campaign comic strip on the D&D site.
- Dessert Ranger (race and melee vs. archer not decided)
- Sorcerer (for those powerful spells)
The Half-Orc would sound dumb, but not be as dumb as he sounds. It's especially tempting since there's a changeling character in the comic strip that's close to your character (half everything is how the half-Orc described him once). Downside is that he likes combat too much, that might get the group killed. Though he did once successfully negotiate with a Dragon... To give you some of the flavor: Wizards not want to die, wizarts not use "Be PiƱata" spell. That's "Levitate" That not result they get.The ranger would be a mysterious native of the desert, he'd know his way around and how to survive there. The sorcerer would just be power, with some handy utility spells for shelters. I'm thinking rope trick, Leomonds cabin, fireball, lightning bolt, ice storm, disintegrate, etc. He wouldn't have the flexibility of a true wizard, but would give the group a lot of fire power. I like all three idea's, just can't decide.

I've talked with the DM, I'm going to go with the Desert Ranger. Details to be worked out... But he's going to have an actual Dragon instead of an animal Companion...

(moved posts out of Callos thread into the character thread)
A dragon companion would only get you something the size of a wyrmling wouldn't it?
There is the dragon cohort feat from the Draconomicon book.

It's more for flavor then anything else. If the GM decides to make it more, that's nice but I'm happy with just the flavor.
A level 12 ranger only gets the animal companion of a level 6 druid. I wouldn't expect such an animal companion to survive combat, so I don't feel entitled to anything powerful. Having something that can scout ahead for us would be nice, and that's all I'm counting on.

yes i know of the feat, but with the back ground of the character it fits way better to have a small dragon instead of a typical animal. It will grow over time yes, but it is way slower then how animals get more powerfull. aniamls are by lv of character, but this dragon does not get xp or gain in size or lv as he does. he is an NPC in a way but i am having harknail be the main drive behind him and the dragon does as he is told.
that being said the dragon does not until enough time has passed in game for it to grow. when it get big enough to be on its own it will "leave the nest". after that he can get a new animal companion or go on a quest for another dragon egg, the choice will be up to him. and if you find an egg the above will be the same for that dragon as well.

Joe i was able to find the feat for you.
I am going to allow complete adventurer book to be used and that is where i found it.
Oversized Two-Weapon fighting Str 13, Two-Weapon Fighting Treat one-handed weapon in off hand as if light weapon, this along with weapon focus it will be a -1,-1
without weapon focus it would be -2,-2.
if it was not a light in the off hand it would be -4,-4.
do to class you also get improved weapon fighting but it does not reduce the penalty but master work will help off set it giving a +1 to hit, magical will help as well so a +2 or 3 if you can afford it will off set and give +'s to hit and damage. so this style can work out very well.
this is the best i could come up with let me know if that works for you.
