Well, for some odd reason I was thinking about the boards last night, and I realized that we haven't been talking about new/exciting movies since the Matrix and LOTR movies came out. So I figured I'd put a thread out here to discuss the collest movie I've seen in a while: Van Helsing.
Anyone else see it? I know that KMan has some animosity towards it, but what about the rest of you?
Did you love it? Did you hate it? Did you not see it, but are dying to? Do you have no urge whatsoever to watch it? Let's have a chat shall we?
Personally I was expecting something a little different from the movie. I expected him to be moster hunter extroidinare, but that didn't turn out like I thought. I'll not go into much detail here till I know that others have seen it and I'm not ruining the movie though.
Catch you guys later.

Meh...give me some time to see it. I don't think thrawn liked it, though.

I didn't see it, but it sounded like House of Frankenstein, the lamest of the 1950's monster movies. You know, the one where Dracula meets Frankenstein meets the Wolfman meets God knows who else...
I mean, any movie with The Good Doctor, Dracula, Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde, and Frankenstein is going to be pretty lame, IMHO.
It's just like they said in Ghosbusters... never cross the streams. I've a clinical aversion to crossover. But that's cause I'm a White-Wolf guy, too...

I came in expecting cool fights, decent character design and a B-movie plot. I wasn't dissapointed.

Thrawn, to be honest with you the movie is not what you make it out to be. Dr Jeckell never meets the wolfman, hell there technically is no wolfman. As in the movie 'Underworld' Vampires and Warewolves have a long history together. This movie supports those beliefs. As for frankenstein, I have to admit that he is indeed involved in the same plotline as Dracula. I guess one common misconception about Frankenstein is that he's a monster, but all he really ever wanted was to exist. Once granted the intelligence to know right from wrong he was actually quite a nice fellow. (Anyone seen 'Young Frankenstein'? Good movie and an interesting view on the whole thing.)
So to you nay-sayers out there I recommend seeing this movie. Van Helsing is not just a monster slayer extroidinaire, but rather a haunted man on a lifelong mission from the church. What it lacks in plotline it makes up for in special effects and action.
On the whole this pirate gives the movie two hooks up.

Anyways, I'm talking out of my ass on this one, having not seen the movie in question. Hence, I defer to those more knowlegdable than I.
