Ka'kion attacks with his battle ax

He is saving rage until he knows if his weapons are going to work.

As no one finished healing him up before coming down he'll use up his 4 cantrips and of healed himself of 4 points. I wanted to save them in case the others where down but without them. Ka'lion strikes hit target solidly but the blow has little visible effect as the creature pushes forwards.

Aelos knows that creatures of the lower planes, even as feeble as these, have relatively little to fear from mortal weapons though through they are not impervious to harm.

The creatures rush forward as one, as if commanded by some voiceless force. The light does not burn them but they shield their faces from it none the less as they claw feebly at the group with knife-like fingers, one cutting a gash across Vadanias unprotected hand (2 damage)

There is no thought or finesse - only a relentless surging attack.

Vadanias arrow sticks into the creatures torso, though doesn't discourage its attack in any way.

There are five of the creatures in all and they make no attempt to flank or otherwise push their advantage in numbers.

Ka'lion is thinking that these creatures have damage Resistance like high level barbarians have. Based on the arrow that stuck into the creature. "We need to fight these things one at a time. Does anyone know how to use a lasso? The best way to fight them is after they are all tied up."

"Nay, I cannot lasso them. Though I doubt they'd let us tie them so easily. I imagine they could break the ropes, either themselves or with some help. Hopefully a mace will fare better than the arrow."

"Not a clue," answers Vadania as she signals Ylva for a coordinated attack. Dropping her bow Vadania draws her sword and switches to melee, attacking whichever of the creatures they can get between them.

The creatures press their attack heedless of the blows struck against them, Ylva finding it difficult to trip a being with no apparent legs.

The blows injure them, but not significantly as they claw against the groups armour - the unprotected Ka'lion getting the worst of it (3 damage)


Aelos knows such creatures are often vulnerable to certain kinds of magic or metals but is ill equipped, though he could summon such a weapon or imbue his own briefly with power.

Both Vadania and Ka'lion recall their earlier encounters with Grale the blacksmith, once of the order of the silver flame dedicated to fighting such creatures with blades of silver. Ka'lions mind also briefly flashes to the collection of magical items the group collected on their last outing but none of use spring to mind.

(you or Vadania are carrying four silver quarrels and a pair of thunderstones, in addition to the vials and other magical items you discovered. Vadania also has a silver sickle)

Vadania answers, "I think you still have the bolts, but I have my sickle". Realizing that a silver weapon might be called for here, Vadania switches from her longsword to her silvered sickle and continues her assault on the creature between her and Ylva.

Lacking practice with the sickle Vadanias blow is weak and imprecise, however it still burns through the side of the creature in a way that her earlier attacks had not.

Aelos takes a step back (5 foot step) in order to cast Spiritual Weapon.

The conjured heavy mace will assist Ka'lion, striking at his opponent.

As a reminder, the weapon counts as a spell for all purposes and deals force damage. The spell lasts one round per level (3). A Spiritual Weapon cannot be attacked or harmed by physical attacks, but dispel magic works against it.

The mace slams into the creature, visibly wounding it though it continues to attack Ka'lion with no regard for its injuries, slashing at the barbarian (1 damage)

The groups heavy armour continues to frustrate the attacks of the other creatures - it seems that the tide of battle is turning.

The creature finally crumples to the ground under the assault and almost immediately begins to smoulder and blacken where exposed to the light of the book.

Seeing that it seems to work better than her longsword, Vadania sticks with to her silvered sickle and continues her assault on the creature between her and Ylva.

Again the silvered weapon cuts a dark line in the creatures side, but its blade is soft and Vadania finds it awkward to wield compared to the balance and reach of her sword.

Aelos will move in to support Ka'lion and attack against his foe.

The group press their attack, Ka'lion again suffering the worst of the creatures assault as his rage and lack of armour offer little protection from their claws (3 damage)

Victory seems inevitable if the group can hold its nerve and simply outlast the attack but Aelos suddenly stumbles as he is struck from behind, a coldness spreading through his veins as a small winged demon appears and strikes.

An imp! Most likely the driving force behind the lesser creatures.


(2 damage and DC13 fort save vs the imps poison for Aelos - the imp floats 5 feet away, anyone but Aelos (or his hammer) moving to attack will take AoOs from the other creatures)
